i'm trying to redesign a site into html/css and i'm in the process of creating the design layout. i just threw this together based off a sketch i've been working on. however, i'm struggling mainly with colors.
here is the psd file of the outlines - no fills, no gradients, no shadows, no textures.

do you have any suggestions for an art deco color scheme? (maroon is nice but it's tough to decide what goes well with maroon)
also, do you have any tips for making this look like a legit old fashioned, elegant styled header and not just an amateurish graphic?
please help.
****** feel free to download the .psd and screw around with it if you have any ideas. *******

I'd prefer not to waste some disk space right away... can you put a jpg preview online? And will we get paid if you use our concepts :P  ;)

at class now...as soon as i get back home, i'll throw a jpg preview up there too...also if i end up using someone's design, i'll pay them, but i'm really looking more for some direction that i can take it myself...i'm still in the early learning stages and i'm just trying to develop as an "artist"

i agree...broadway is old and cliche...problem is that's the font they use with their logo...on their envelopes and programs, etc. so i at least have to have it on the head...i'm gonna throw some effects on the text though...some stroke, drop shadowm or outer glow...we shall see.

the background graphic and the header really clash. And I'd consider building the header to incorporate the name, instead of it slapped right on top of it.

a good place to start is .. www.colourlovers.com (http://www.colourlovers.com/) you can browse or search color palettes by keywords like: deco

I'd go; browns, oranges, maroon, pale greens/blues. Just make sure you are using cool shades of colours, nothing too vibrant.

thanks for the color help...i found some really good palettes on colourlovers, very similar to what you suggested dreeft.
but now what do you guys think can be done with that header...should i add more lines...should i use graidents, should i make those flair things on the side a little smaller? i've looked at it far too much and i'm trying to make it different than both of the other templates: www.artdecoentertainment.com (http://www.artdecoentertainment.com) and www.artdecoentertainment.com/test (http://www.artdecoentertainment.com/test)
