View Full Version : Best way to downsize video files?

Lets say i have like a 50mb video file. I need to make it internet friendly so i want to make it maybe 5-10mb. What is the best way to do this?

compression via video editing apps or sorenson squeeze. ;)

You might also give windows movie maker 2 a try (it's free if you have windows xp).

It will let you specify a particular size in megabytes and then it will give you the best quality it can for that many megabytes. It only encodes in wmv though...

I always use Virtual Dub and the Xvid codec for AVI compression. Xvid can compress a 12 GB file into a 200 MB file while maintaining great quality. Also make sure to RAR your file (better compression than ZIP).
