View Full Version : Problem with employers

There are a few people that post job offers fairly often, but they never respond or let anyone know what's going on with the job. I think this is highly annoying. I waste my time emailing these people and if I'm lucky they send me a one sentence email saying they they decided to do it themselves. Or, even worse, you get to the point where you are about to start a project and they don't want to sign a contract.
What I'd like to happen is have a few more rules added to the job offer section, one being that if you post 3 bogus job offers you should be banned from posting there. I'd also like a rule, or notice to employers, that they should be ready to sign a contract, and if they are not willing to do so they should reconsider posting.
This is mainly geared toward teh small and medium sized freelance jobs. Just gets a little annoying to see the same fools posting bogus jobs all the time.

I have always monitored those forum sections just out of curiosity and I totally agree, the amount of people that post...even for free work someone does it for them and they never even respond or thank the person who has helped them :(
I personally think that it should be moderated more closely say a 3 day limit on threads that are not responded to unless the poster has a valid reason why he/she cannot reply during that time frame.
I know DDD used to keep things in check in those sections but I have not seen that much of DDD for while on the forums so I think its kind of going down hill and its damaging the whole legitimacy of those sections of the forum.
just my take on things.

Hey guys, I am still around and we are discussing ways to make this thing flow better. This is a valued asset to the forum and should NOT be abused. I do advise that no one take on a job free or paid without some kind of contract or assurance of the project. But we are trying to spruce things up. Feel free to PM me any suggestions.

Someone brought to my attention a feedback system. Wouldn't it be cool if we had a system like ebay where you can see what others thought of their work? We could have feedback for employers and employees. If a freelancer gets hired by an employer and then doesn't hear from them again they can give them negative feedback. Likewise, if a freelancer totally screws up a job, or gets in way over their head, they too can get negative feedback. Course there would be possitive feedback as well.
What do you guys think? Might mean writing a custom vbulletin hack.

I'd really like to write this hack as soon as I have some time. There are probably some hacks already out there that can be modified to do what was mentioned above.

Someone needs to ban fatmammal from the employment section. I've had like 3 different incidences where I wasted my time persuing a job openning with him where he decided to cancel. And now he is trying to get people to code some sort of stalker site. Get rid of the trash wannabe employers please.
