Heh. I'm sure this has got to be difficult, but I've always been a bit curious how this works.

Any way to do goal-seeking PHP which can do math until it has reached a variable on one side of an equation?

For sure it can be done. There are a bunch of online algebra solvers. It must be a pain to implement though. It'll take some serious string manipulations.

hah i remember doing 1 trignomity one :P You might crash your server with impossible-to-solve equations
