Nice :D

You got Studio 8, right? Because if you bought those products seperately... you're dumb :P Heheh. I personally am happy with MX2004 for the time-being. I really don't see any reason to spend AU$600+ for an upgrade, since all the new features seem to require Flash Player 8, which most people don't have. Perhaps the new Adobe Flash will entice me.

Anyway, you have fun with that.

wow .. I wish I knew what codeing was at 11!! :)

However when at first I started flash, I tried to do all simple stuff at first, just to know what is available. and then kirupa website was of much help. You should stick here for some time and post your questions :)

Did i say it was no, just that you trying to run before you can even walk, so whats the point of buying that new one, if you havent even mastered the other ones. It like me having car, and buying another 200K car, just cause i can. That is your approach to things.. Just apply the brakes and take it one step at a time, miricles dont happen over night you know.

It always good to have the latest stuff around (if you can afford it that is) You get to use the new features and that feeling of having the latest is always great!

I think what Seb means is that if someone is just starting off with flash then buying the most expensive version straight away is abit ambitious?

Let say I wanted to start snowboarding...I wouldn't go out and buy the most expensive board and equipment before I even know what a halfpipe is.

Damn chris, you got alot of stuff dude, for a youngsta. But it is actually refreshing to see youth in design. Keeps our industry fresh. I am starting to approach old man status, or OG if you will in the design arena. I dont agree with the others who said you shouldnt have bought the new stuff. if you have the resources and the drive to learn I would advise staying abreast of all the current technology. I have been using flash since like version 4 or 5 and I still suck at AS.....lol. But I got the new suite anyway :). I always update all my adobe, macromedia, lightwave, modo and worley products.

Have fun with it....You can make a "good" living in design.

I actually started out with pirated software and tricking my bosses into buying stuff for me, but yea as I progressed I bought my programs legit. But if I had the money back in the day I would have bought the software then too. But if he is into design that much it bodes well for this wee lad.

Hey, if my parents would buy Studio 8 for me, why wouldn't I want it??? I started out with FrontPage, but then upgraded rather quickly to Studio MX 2004 with Flash MX 2004 Profesional. I tried some of the cheap programs and they weren't that great. BTW, there is no such thing as a Flash freebie! And with the snowboard thing, start out maybe renting the board and if you like snowboarding, and your parents offer to buy you any board, boots, and bindings that you want, would you go with the cheapest? I personally would go witht the best (that is, of course, if I knew that it wouldn't hurt my parents financially).

P.S. Hey Seb, if all of us had to MASTER Flash, and know everything there is about Flash, before you upgraded then I think many would be stuck with the original version that we bought. Let's face it, there are MANY MANY MANY MANY things to learn about Flash. And the possibilities are tremendous!

I was speaking metaphorically, like get to know the basic, how to use the program a bit better, its obvious you cant really master a program, causer there are always new thigns to learn :P

i'd rather download it for free and give the money to a charity or something

@seb hughes, what is wrong with buying flash 8, im pretty sure you havent mastered flash mx 7pro am i correct because if you did, you could name every single function for me, every toolbar that you can use, every practical use of flash player 7 in general, can you? i know i can't with that saying can you name everything for flash 6, because your pretty much telling him to start from the begining, i didn't master flash 7 before moving to flash 8, anyways to my main point i started out flash with a free trial from the website, and then bought it, anyways maybe he wants the new features of flash 8, yet i would have waited for flash 9 ~can't wait lol~

Hmmm... I think Seb was more talkin in concerns about a cost efficiency standpoint, Studio 8 = $1000, MX2004 = $400. Spending that much money on something you're not to familar w/ is kinda strange for someone to do... even more so is that at the age of 11 he's got $1000... I don't even have that at my age (well at least not for software)

His parents bought it for him. I would buy my kids something like that in a heartbeat. It keeps them off the street and is not a bad hobby I can think of many other things that I would rather not buy them.

I get what you're sayin' Seb. But then again, you I wouldn't go attackin' the poor kid. His mom bought it for him. What else are you s'posed to do? Say "Naw, buy me Flash MX 2004, so that I can master that first." But I do see where you're coming from now (at least I think I do), and that is a good point. Then again, why buy the older stuff, and then upgrade, instead of starting from the start?

As far as price, you can actually get Studio 8 for a pretty good price off of ebay, especially Academic version.

Differences can be grasp in Studio 8 by learning from MX2004. If Studio 8 was out today for example, why would I buy MX2004? Although there is some restrictions, Student versions for me costs 70% less than RRP.

Congratulations! Make good use of those programs!

I can kinda see where seb is coming from, though my view on it is different. The way I see it, its fine for someone to get the newest software in this case. His mum bought it for him. Is he ambitious? We dont know. I sure was (and still am) very ambitious. Does it matter that much when he seems like a good kid?

Its just when I bump into the wrong kind of people, when I bring out the guns. Like the people who think because they have the best software, that they are the best artist (or designer).

If I were to buy the newest software I need(blowing a good 2 grand at it), it would be because of a strategic point of view. Buying new software means you'll be content with it for much longer, and wont need to upgrade for a while (in my opinion). So in the long run, isnt it a better option? ;)
