Generally sites that I have designed have been really simple in the presentation and also in the construction. Mainly because I like a simple aesthetic... a clean presentation. I have also never used flash entirely for a site. Some CSS, html and a few flash experiments. Well, i am redoing my portfolio, on-line and also analog. I decided to try something different. This site is bound by borders, meaning that it is contained in a box with a defined amount of space for presentation. Something that I have never done for my ownself. The design is somewhat more complex with the use of darks and white and some color. I like having a navigation feature for links/buttons/information that will remain the same and never change - "permanent". Then, I also like an area to show new projects, ideas, etc.... but something simple. I do not want to get into a news section or anything like that. I am looking for critique on design, the style of locking up all the information vs a more open, white no borders site, size, color, etc. The use of flash in this case vs a css or html based site. I am planning on using some transitions and other motion based graphics... again, probably very simple, subtle and fast.
This is the quick, non-functioning site and layout. This is one page, the portfolio page.

Simple and cute. That design will be as good as it's finest detail.

Not bad, I'd like to see a bit more done on it to give a full critique though...

Yeah... I know it is hard to really give a lot when you are looking at a static site like this... I will post some more when I get it done. I am just a little hesitant to invest a lot of time if it sucks from a layout standpoint, look, feel, etc... There is not real theme or concept... like a newspaper or anything like that... just a small sense of style and a forum to shocase work.
I will get some more up soon so I can get better feedback.
Thanks

Ok... I have pushed forward and I have part of the structure taken care of and the landing page. I am still up in the air about it but then again I am always a tough critic. http://flat22.com/2006site/06test.html
Let me know if anyone has any feedback.
