kirupaVille: Pixel City Contest
In this contest, create buildings for kirupaVille, the place where many of this site's members live! The deadline for submitting entries is February 24th.
How to Submit Entry?
First, if you are not familiar with kirupaVille, check it out here: http://www.kirupa.com/lab/kville/main.htm (http://www.kirupa.com/lab/kville/main.htm)
Second, browse through the following five steps: http://www.kirupa.com/motiongraphics/5steps.htm (http://www.kirupa.com/motiongraphics/5steps.htm) Ignore step 4, for you will be submitting your building to this forum!
In summary, pick a plot size, draw your building, and submit it as a new thread in this forum with your entry attached to the post using the forum's attach feature. After you have submitted your entry, check the stickied "Current Entries" thread after a day or so to ensure that I have your entry and name listed.
You are allowed to submit as many entries as you want. Just ensure that you create a new thread for each of your entry. It makes it easier for me to find and add your entry when it is a new thread as opposed to being buried as a post.
So What are the Prizes? :P
1st place - $50 Amazon.com gift certificate or Paypal payment
2nd place - $30 Amazon.com gift certificate or Paypal payment
3rd place - $20 Amazon.com gift certificate or Paypal payment
Judging/Judges
The judges have not been determined, but you will see more information on that as the contest deadline nears. The entries will be judged on how well they are designed.
-----------------------------------------------------
If you have any questions, post them in this thread and I will respond to them as quickly as possible. I will edit this post to incorporate good questions and related answers.
Good luck!

Yes, multiple entries are allowed. In the first post I mentioned:

On the 5 steps page (the one that gives you 5 steps to making your Kville Building) the links to
"PixelArt Tutorials" and "Tread on which program to use" don't work :stare:

No, you should create a new thread. Also, old entries will not eligible for the contest :cyclops:

Oh, if the entry is currently not in kVille, then you can submit it. I must have just remembered seeing it in the kVille forum :)

I'm going to have a go at this one. Firstly, let me ask, Kirupa says buildings, does it have to be a building or could it be something else? lets say for example - a statue of elvis, would that count?
also, i am a little unsure where i should actually post the entry - not here i presume because someone did that already and they were told by kirupa not to do that.
Good luck to all contestants.

Salvador - sure, you can create a statue if you want. It does not have to be a building.
You can post your entry as a 'new thread' in this forum. Posting your entry as a response to this thread isn't allowed :P

I noticed that the submission example is from Futurama, so was wondering if it's ok if I did something similar (model mine after something say, in a movie). Would that be allowed/legal?

Sure! Even if your building is based on a movie/cartoon, the key is in how well you get your design into the pixel art form. As long as you don't borrow somebody else's pixel art building, your entry should be good :gi:

moyart :) thanks. I'm just trying to come up with a new building for the competition. I'm thinking along the lines of a futuristic building or perhaps a building that has been bombed.
