After asking a few people on here how to do this effect with a couple of website examples I've started messing around trying to recreate the same kind of style.

Its just a start, I'm hoping to add some shading to make it seem more 3D as the bars cross over; just looking for some feedback at this for a start.

fan-tabby-hooby as the hoobs would say ;) I would make them thinner, and add more. As you said, its a start, and Im sure you were gonna add these things anyway.

Good stuff! :thumb:

Thanks

There is no scripting involved in doing that, to do this effect you need to;

- create a rectangle, colour of your choice and make it the width of the area you want to cover
- right click on the rectangle and 'envelope' it, giving it the bending effect
- copy the keyframe and paste it into 30 or so keyframes, then go back to frame 1 and chop pieces off, you can check mine in the attached .FLA (the ribbon is in the library as the move 'Intro')

:)

If I get the time I'll make a proper tutorial for this.

EDIT // forgot to mention the FLA is a Flash MX file

dear, u have no idea what dymanic means.
Its a frame by frame animation, and it sucks.

yeah i would say calling it dynamic ribbon effect is a little misleading, despite the whole "effect" disclaimer. its not really pretending to be dynamic. in anycase, the problem with it now is that if you multiply it and add shading effects its going to get really sluggish and start slowing processors down....although creating this effect should be totally possible with AS.

Why is everyone against old threads? I for one welcome our past coming back to haunt us.
