what is the easiest way to create the sun burst background seen here?

probably in illustrator or flash itself,

set up something like this:

to do that, i first draw a big circle, and then one vertical and one horizontal line to make a plus sign in the middle of the circle, copy and paste in place the plus sign and rotate it by 11.25º do this over and over again.

easiest way is to make some vertical bars of even size and even spacing using the fixed size marquee tool (be sure to use the "add to selection mode), then fill those with a color. The do a distort>>polar coordinates then choose polar to rectangle or something like that, then voila sun burst. Use a clipping layer to make them conform to a shape if need be.

extra note, make the bars on a new layer, oh and this is using photoshop

yea ddd's technique is the least complicated and does the majority of the work for you

I have done this in illustrator as well. But I think Imay have a plugin that does it. I cant remember.
