Lowering the volume of a midi?

i want to use a midi file as bg music on one of my pages, not coz it sounds good, but coz it's smaller than a same length mp3/wav...

but the bloody files i'm downloading are quite loud in comparison with the audio of my buttons. can i alter this this somehow? or can anyone else do it for me?

i lowered all the instruments' pans in sibelius but now there's all this echo and extra 'sssssshhhhhhhhhh' noise.

can anyone suggest anything? :alien:
