That was very slick. I liked the pace and the music, I usually get tired of those sorts of web presentations, but it kept my interest very nicely. It's got great style too.

He says in the main part of the site that it was mostly put together to test out new features in Flash 8, so . . .

nice tight promo piece. wish I known about hyper island when I decided to go to college... not that I would've made it in... but still :D they have some top notch designers that spawn from there.

If He is not using A.E then what? 3D?

January 10th, 2006, 05:39 PM
I'd say he's using Swift 3D for parts. It's a great site!

stuff like that makes me feel bad about myself. i loved it though.

I think parts are definitely AE... Not all Flash 8... But a lot is.

*throws copy of Flash in the trash*

Wow, that one blip of the guy pushing over the chess piece was super sweet :stunned:

My only gripe is that it was way too fast. I know its a promo piece but I wouldn't have been less engaged if I could have checked out what was going on a bit more. And whats the point of having so much text if it goes by too quickly to read it?

Wait a minute . . . am I just getting old? :cantlook: :elderly: :P

hehe, yeah you are getting old ;) i think the reason it's fast, is because it's a motion graphics reel ;) but i agree, it'd be nice to be able to check out some of those designs and motions a bit more.

Any reason you are asking this here? Want me to move your post to the Flash 8 forum?

Willofdarkness
January 11th, 2006, 04:39 PM
is something like this mostly keyframes or AS?

dipsb_13
January 11th, 2006, 05:55 PM
yeah that might be good lunatic - the reason why I was asking here is I suppose I was wondering if somebody was going to say that the same affects could be achieved in MX or something

That was done mostly in Flash and probably had the 3D done in Swift. I couldn't see much for use of AE in there.

It probably can't be done in MX though, some of the new Flash Pro 8 features are utilized.

I would agree with lunatic... it was a bit fast... Though it's of for such promo but still... he had done a very good work and he get to show it clearly in promo... I had to have watch it again.. to see all the effects in detail...

Anyways nice job... yeah and flash 8/AE tool was my mystry too... But more I guess is flash8....

Yeah. He mostly used the "MAKE AN INSANE PSYCHO FLASH ANIMATION WITH MUSIC BY OVERSEER" button. A great new feature...

I know Mr. Andreas Wannerstedt, who made this flash, and can answer your questions, since he´s just too lazy to answer (or busy making more cool flash) :)

There is no AfterEffects involved. Only programs used are Flash 8 and Swish3D
http://www.swishzone.com/

Not much actionscript involved at all

The font from the photo gallery is Telenor

You can do 3d work in 3d studio max and render in a Swf exporter mode, never used it myself but i've read about them, so maybe that was used. Again very good, but again reminds me of fakepilot (http://wwwfakepilot.com), especially with the Overseer music, as FP was pretty keen on Overseer (http://www.fakepilot.com/archive/fakepilot/) in his first few flash animations that got him famous.

The speed is good, but it would be nice to be able to stop, pause and rewind to actually see what is happening/being written, but I guess thats all part of the overcoded insanity thats makes it.....(imagine this is being said by Samuel L Jackson).....cool.
