View Full Version : Clone Stamp on a Path in Photoshop? Possible

Hi all I have a quick question. Is it possible to use the clone stamp using a path to follow, for example, I need to repeat a pattern in a diagnal form, not a true diagnal that is, and curious as it would save a lot of time, and be a useful tip to know as well.
Thanks for any help.

Yes you can, although I don't understand what you mean by Diagonal. You could aso just hold Shift between two clicks of the stamp tool to get a diagonal...

you can use all sorts of brushes on a path within the path menu.
eg:
create a new path layer
draw a path with bezier tool
click arrow-triangle on path tab
click stroke path - check out the options in the dropmenu - havent tried it but clone stamp is in there. (CS)

Thanks for the replies, I think your not fully understanding my request, but I have included an example for you to look at, and hopefully you will have a better idea for my requirement.
Many thanks
Trev
PS - I understand you can use the shift key to constrain an angle but this is not a perfect diagnal, so it will not work :(, any ideas please.

are you using cs2? If so there is that new perspective clone tool. I have not had a chance to use it yet. But from the examples on Adobe it does exactly what youa re trying to do.

Yes CS2 I am using, really? Well I will have a look and see what the crack is. If this is true, thanks for the tip :).

No; alt-click to get the initial pattern, click one where you want the 'diagonal' to start and and while holding shift, click on the end of the 'diagonal'. It will create a straight line.
(shift will constrain angles if you press it before the start of the diagonal)
