right away I noticed your title could use some work.

I'm guessing you're new to SEO.

Research your keywords and your competiton before you do anything SEO related.

Here's a helpful tool for keyword popularity
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

Also, there's no headings, bold text, italics and it's really light on content. If you did this site according to the SEO tutorial here on kirupa then don't expect google traffic to be overwhelming your site. (sorry k-man but the quality of that tutorial is really low)

I suggest you mozy on over to www.seochat.com and have a look around there for some seo basics. Also, visiting some seo related forums will get you a lot further than you'll ever get here on kirupa. *cough* most people doing full flash websites aren't concerned with seo *cough*

Same thing ' title needs work? Every page has headings that have 'Fur Handbags' & image alts and links have keyword 'Fur Handbag' There is around 1500 searches a month on Fur Handbags...competetion is low...if it were just 'handbags' i would haev a lot more compettion it would really be a differnt story...site went live last week, heard it takes 2 to 3 months to be indexed to google yahoo? thanks for the reply ... let me know what you think now? peace out dude

Yea man you are not doing to well on the SEO tip. Try to use H1 tags as much as possible, research keywords, a better title will help a bunch. There is really too many tips to post here but there are many things you can do for organic search results. Then you can get off into bidding on keywords......... Also check out Commission Junction and see if you can become a affiliate. That really helps generate sales.

I used H1 tags a couple times on each page with the keyword that im using, when you say a better title, what do you mean? i don't want to get blacklisted and over do it..i was thinking that the simpler the better, thats why I chose Pekis Place - Fur Handbags as the title.... when you say bidding on keywords what do you mean? when you say i'm not doing well ... what am i not doing well in?

I applied to Commission Junction ... can i see a site that you made and SEO?

Hey Justin;

Just curious. When was this book published?

I just glanced at your code on the homepage so I missed the h1 tags. Put those at the top part of the page just below your nav. You want your headings and titles to be similiar but try to avoid making them the exact same.

Your title would be better suited as 'Fur Handbags! Handmade Rabbit and Mink (http://www.pekis-place.com) Handbags by the fur experts at Peki's Place'
*note: if you're going to use the companies name in the title put it at the end

Below are just some quick thoughts:

The ALT tags are kind of spammy when they only contain keywords. Instead if 'Mink Fur Handbag' mix it them up with stuff like 'Picture of a beautiful dark brown mink handbag'

Bold and Italize your keyphrase at least once.
Also, by linking your keyphrase every time you're definitely going to get nailed by a G filter.

Use an external CSS file.

Add some more body copy to the homepage. In my experience 300-400 words per page will do the trick. Also, you other pages need body copy aswell. I'm sure you could easily write at least 200 words about each handbag. If I were doing the site I'd probably have about 4000 words of good body copy before expecting any respectable rankings.

Also, it doesn't take 2 or 3 months to get ranked or cached on google (yahoo and msn are slow though). Get a link from a site that is spidered often and you should see it on google somewhere within a week

Get quality links from related websites.

Build a sitemap and link to it from the homepage.

Remove the word 'Fur' from the nav button 'fur handbag accessories (http://www.pekis-place.com)' The more I look at your site the more I think you're going to getted nailed by a filter. You have to mix up your keyphrases and anchor text.

I hope some of these pointers help.

O yea, submit your site to dmoz.org asap.

can you look at this http://www.pekis-place.com/index2.html Do you see the black gap on nav? That is not supposed to be there. Any ideas? I am using a style sheet that is calling h2 below ...looks like this:

h2 {
font-family: Verdana;
font-size: 12px;
font-weight: normal;
color: black;
}

yes I see the extra spacing, you just have to set the top and bottom margins in the css.

BUT, I wouldn't put your nav in h2s. I'm sure you've already noticed that SEO is a messed up thing to learn. It's an art as much as it is a science and what works for one industry can be disatorous to another.

One more thing I forgot to mention is to pay for your domain so it's good for 5 years or at least 2. Believe it or not Google may be taking your domain expiry date into account (people who pay for 5 years are more likely to have legitamate sites right?).

How do I set the top and bottom margins in css?

h2{
margin-top: 2px;
margin-right: 3px;
margin-bottom: 4px;
margin-left: 5px;
}
Or in shorthand...

h2{ margin: 2px 3px 4px 5px; }
