Hey, i'm new here btw.
I'm having a problem in photoshop where some of the filters gray out of the menu when the resolution comes over a certain pixel amount or dpi.
This will probably result in really long render times, but how can i disable this block and still use the filters for high res images like prints?

there shouldn't be any issues... i've used filters for hires prints many times up to 16x11 @ 1200dpi... i think the best way to find your answer would be to go to the Adobe website and search for the answer. It sounds like it may be a limited case.

HMm i have had that issue.
The problem is your computer is lagging. Yeah once i was using Maya and photoshop together and noticed that the filters werent working properly. It shouldnt be a problem is you have alot of RAM and you computer is fast. When you computer is slow the application usually takes a long time to put the filters.
As for the greying out, Sometimes you are working with objects that cannot use such filters on them.

sounds to me like you accidently go into quickmask mode or one of the channels, other than that you might be in CMYK mode, theres no such thing as a block in a image being a different pixel mode than the rest in a normal viewing setting.
