Typography Battle 2.0
This thread will be to help determine the rules to the new typography battle. Once we've settled on them we can set up an actual battle with a deadline and get going.
My ideas -
Use any software necessary to create an interesting display of typography. Should be a word or two, nothing too much.
We'll need a theme. The last one was "evolution" which opened up the doors to some really cool entries. So a strong open theme would be cool.
Something like a minimum size of 500 x 500 and a maximum of 1000 x 1000 pixels.
Anyone can enter.
Two or three weeks to get it done.
Those are my ideas. Let's get your thoughts in here so we can make this a good battle for everyone. :)

Are you talking like a illustration with a typographic treatment or just typography as in only text in the image? I am pretty sure I am confused at this point.

Just creating an image that has an emphasis on a user created type face. Not the whole type face, just a word or two. Maybe I'm not explaining this right.

aaahhh....creating your own typeface....I think I get it. Sorry man, this new job changed my view of typography forever...lol.

Yep but you wouldn't have to create an entire type face... an example would be an image from the last battle. Like this here that mariofan created

A little more clear?

Doesn't have to be that kind of reflection. Hopefully some people come up with some original ideas. We shall see!

Open ended, anyone can do one at any time as long as it gets in by the deadline. So we should iron out some rules since there's some interested folks here. Whatchy'all say?

are multiple entries allowed?
nobody
December 30th, 2005, 01:54 AM
Personally I'd prefer just one, but if other people think multiple is the way to go then I don't see why not.
Just so everyone knows, we haven't started yet, so wait a bit to submit if you made something, there'll be a new Battle thread soon.

- So, 'reflection' is the theme, correct? :cantlook: I'm guessing we don't want to have more than one theme...?

i might have to whip out macromedia fontographer:P
You know, a lot of font creators actually create the fonts in an alternate program (illustrator or photoshop) and import them into fontographer. So if it's just for an image, why break out fontographer?... unless of course you plan on publishing the font you create.
I would love to participate, but I hardly have the time. If this is an open battle, maybe I'll put in an entry, we'll see, I'm not promising anything.
