Hi all geeks :cubs:,
AJAX-Asynchronous Javascript and XML Technology.
AJAX is just a way of implementation. It's not something which can be downloaded and worked upon. It suggests a kind of frame-work.
As the data handling is done asynchronously in Flash so it also happens with AJAX. Javascript is used for the data handling.
I was wondering which one is better.
I think it depends only on the user environment to decide which technology to use.
Flash and AJAX are almost the same kinda things.
Though AJAX does not require any plugin, it is supported by IE 5+, Netscape 7+ and Mozilla browsers.
Your comments?

Flash is "better"
Can you animate vectors with Ajax? No. Flash can.
End of story.

I will say that using Ajax - with the addition of canvas - makes the browser more capable of handling "information" (for lack of a more general term; this including server data and graphical display) more like Flash is able to but without the additional plugin. This, of course, is nothing new. I've been in discussions before about how Flash is redundant because virtually anything Flash can do, the browser + js + dhtml can do too. For the most part, thats true. But Flash (usually) makes it easier and includes those other bells and whistles such as video and whatnot that help it come out on top (yay flash).

It all depends on how you use both. Ajax is advantageous because it can affect clean xhtml/css pages without the mess of Flash. It can do something very simple and can be an easy addition that greatly enhances the user experience.
Flash, on the other hand, has to have the site built around it. Flash demands all the attention, and you can't use Flash to edit just part of an xhtml/css page. Flash can certainly do more, there's no doubt about it. However, it can't do it in a slim, nice way.

I vote Ajax, also I'm a big fan of Flash.
Look at Gmail or GoogleMap, you will find the right answer !

it depends .....
if u wanna make a bussines system..something that needs massive numbre of users, like a bank system or somethig...u can use AJAX...but if you wanna make a game with a lot of animations and FX...then you can use flash...
is like... hammer vs. scissors

AJAX and FLash are not comparable
they are for different things, AJAX is a great thing for exactly what it does
not loading pages over and over again
FLASH is multimedial product and no AJAX can do what FLASH does with graphics sound animation, FLASH is more complete product
