Hey guys, i've been itching to draw vector people like this:

http://www.ndesign-studio.com/portfolio/illustration/netbabe.htm

but don't even know how to begin.... looks to me like gradient mesh for the skin and what not... i have no experiance with illustrator (Don't even own it).
Anyone know of any cool tutorials that deal with drawing awesome vector people??

search the boards for gradient mesh or google it, the examples on the website look like vector shapes with some smart colouring techniques the shadows look too sharp (outlined, vector style) to be gradient mesh although he might be using both vector and gradient mesh style. Dudes actually a member on these boards so maybe pm him and ask ;)

im pretty sure you can, like i said its a simple vector based illustration technique, as he shows in the tutorial, its about tracing the image, colourizing it then adding depth with shadows.

Basically like .soulty said, just trace over the image, then match the colors that you see to make it realistic....or give it your own color pallette.

creative arts magazine has a big tut on this in the current or last months issue. Its a good starting point for vector stuff.

Jesus... I wish I was able to even do vector art... I mean the tracing is easy enough to do, but the colors etc... :(

If you wanna learn about gradient mesh, here's a good tutorial (http://www.lifeinvector.com/index2.html) to start with...

Click on the downloads link and below there's a turorial... but even trying that i still got a problem gradient meshing people esp where u connect the nose, lips etc to the face...
