Ok. Let me start out by saying a few things.
1) The movie Fight Club is one of the most disturbing movies ever. It is my all time favorite movie. This movie helps me to calm down and relax after a long day.
2) The book was really amazing too.
3) Fight Club can be applied to almost every field of study that deals with any type of human behavior.
Now saying that, I am proud to announce that something I have been hoping for, for about 2 years, has finally come true: I have to do an Anthropology assignment on Fight Club. I have to write a 12 page paper about the movie. :):) I'm excited.
ok, now that all that is over, I would like to know who has seen this movie and what you all thought of it. :)
Cheers,
Jubs

Alex: Ok, I'm just giving you this one warning. Make sure you sit thru the whole thing, even if you don't understand it. Some of my friends didn't like it because they ddin't understand, then they told me that they never finished watching it. I was like, "Well duuuuuh dumarse! Thats why you don't understand it!"

anyways... ed norton... he's a REALLY good actor, but his last 3 movies have been really crappy...
and brad pitt... it's ok to like brad pitt movies. It's not ok to be a brad pitt fan...

Yeah. the great thing about this movie is that no matter how many times you see it, you always see something new, every time!
Does any one know anything about the payphone? When the narrator calls Tyler for the first time? :)
If you don't know the secret and you want to know then ask me, or watch the movie and find out.... :)

It has been awhile... liked it alot... don't own it... now you've gone and arroused my couriosity... have to go get it to see and re-see all that I don't clearly remember (all the subtle stuff)
One particularly cool part I remember was when he *arranged* to be able to work from home :!:
phoneBooth-phoneBooth... ahh isn't that where it all becomes clear, much to his dismay ?!?
Another bizzare-o look into the peculiarities of human behaviour is 'a clockwork orange' ... been probably over 20 yrs since I've seen that one ... another for the re-lookin'

It is definately one of those where if someone talks to ya while it's on... you need to go back a few... every little bit is part of the build up to the grand finale - gotta pay full attention -

I agree, Fight Club is awesome. Very well made.
But in the "strange movies" section, if I had to pick one of these two:
[a] Fight Club
[b] Donnie Darko
I'd pick Donnie Darko. If Fight Club is awesome, Donnie Darko totally kicks ***.
About the Brad Pitt topic, he does his thing very good in Fight Club, but in my opinion, his best performance was in 12 Monkeys:

I've heard a bit about it, but I haven't seen it.
Oh and the only thing I know about this movie is the name of it - Fight Club, that's all :)

oh, there's a bunch of them like that... I knew that secret, I thought it was something cool... not dorky.
If you watch the movie again, you'll notice that EVERYONE ignores tyler when they're outside of fight club... also, you know about the splicing, right?
Jubba
April 13th, 2003, 12:01 PM
Thats not cool? Its small things like that that are all over the place. The hidden smilies. The splicing...

I loved Fight Club (and not just because Brad Pitt was in it ;) ). I think it's a film you can read as much into as you want...

great film...
one of the best parts of the movie is when brad pitt holds the gun to the young checkout boys head...
it is very true that in the morning his breakfast would have tasted like no other...
everything that you took 4 granted would be so much better...
something to think about...
another great part is the scene were brad is discussing the "things to do chart" in case of an emergency on the plane...
sweet...
large amounts of oxygen make you docile... he he
exactly what you would want in that situation...
hindu cows indeed...
there is so much going on in the film, loadsa food for thought..
after you have finished your project you should post it so we can see your thoughts...
but then again, i thought we were not supposed to talk about it?

Yeah, and things like that show just how much work this guy has done to create Tyler Durden. He makes him up before he meets him. Creates the entire character, including the fact that he doesn't pick up his phone, and he does *69 and calls back... its just how deep his dementia goes...
