I'm working on an existing site for a friend. The original designer used Verdana font outline. I have no idea how he achieved this effect. Is there an easy way to get just the outline of a font in Flash? Or does someone know if there is a Verdana Outline font available somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the only font closest to the outline Verdana font that I know will be: Helvetica Neue Bold Outline from http://www.adobe.com

something tricky that might work is putting normal text in front of bold text, it would show only hte borders (i guess)

else you might brake apart the text and fill the lines, then clear out the text... but this would be long and take space I'd guess...

in illustrator turn the font into outlines and remove its fill, then give it a stroke colour / size of your choice. Now copy and paste this into flash (coverting into outlines makes the type a shape rather than a font)

You could add a stroke to Veranda in photoshop?

Hi, there are many ways to achieve this effect. The one that looks more promising is the one from MARIOFAN. Or use Helvetica Neue Bold Outline it is the same font. Verdana is the same as Helvetica. Just different copyrights. from the type foudrys. Verdana is own by Microsoft and Helvetica is own by Adobe, Lonotype Hell, Agfa, Bitstream and others. This way you can use an actual FONT in Flash. Hope this will help.

This sounds like my best bet. Unfortunately I don't have Illustrator.... however, I do have Freehand. Can the same task be performed in Freehand?

You could do it in flash or photoshop. Just type the text and rasterize or break apart depending on the program u are using. Then you can jsut stroke the shape on another layer.
