I'm looking for a fairly easy to use Flash CMS system and there really doesn't seem to be a fully functioning reasonable priced one on the market right now. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any luck with them and what their thoughts were etc. Looking specifically for a system with a forum module of some sort, news/blog system and a mp3 jukebox/player/list system with and default front-end and an easy tutorial on how to customize it.

from what I know:

Atomz does a custom solution thats expensive.

b82 is has a free non-commericial one and a commericial available.. very little instructions/ tutorials for it... no specific modules/plugs for a forum or a mp3 jukebox or gallery. not very user friendly and full of bugs...
http://cms.beaver82.com/

Flashblocks has a relatively cheap one good for small or mid-sized sites. No forum module, but it has a very basic mp3 player... and bunch of source code to compile, not a set application package. Somewhat user friendly from the demo.

Digital Publishing Tools: Price? - Interface?? no demo online… Supposedly opensource. Seems promising but who knows. http://www.dpt.at/

Coma Tool - seems cool, but who knows the price and if it's user friendly or not... looks ok. http://www.comatool.com/

Ego 7 - this CMS looks amazing. awesome feature set. bookmarkable, forum module, new system, pretty much everything you could want. no price or demo, but looks the most promising so far. I sent them an email for further inquerie http://www.ego7.com

Incubate - pretty minimal feature set, not alot of info on it.
http://www.incubate.com.au/

and then there's theory 7 which has a flash forum, which is somewhat decent but not easily customizable.

Did I miss any Flash CMSes? Anyone on here working on any open source flash CMS. I know it's only a matter of time.

hi,
you should definitively have a look at silex, I don't know of any other open source flash CMS that comes even close to it. No forum, but everything else you mentionned is there.

There is are some really nice XML driven templates on flashden that would probably work well for you. You would just need to connect the xml to a database.

I've been working with CMS solution called "flaria":

http://www.flaria.fi/index.php#/Download/

... very easy to add to any existing flash site with provided components ( flash 6-10, as 1-2 ) and you can also build sites online without flash authoring tool. Download package includes FLA source for learning.

It has stable texteditor, quick image editor with brightness, hue, color, smoothing, compression etc. ( works also for videos and SWF's ), drag and drop media bank, drag and drop XML editor for XML menues, transition manager etc. etc.

Everything is included into one little "Skype like" editor panel.

Flaria writes also clean and valid HTML code so you can also use it for HTML sites as a sitemaker.

Latest RC version is updated with component set 20.12.2008.

EDIT - The new release of Rainbow now includes SEO tools to allow search engines and users without the Flash Player to view the content, links and images in your Flash site.

Hi,
I've just released Rainbow Live XML editor:
http://www.codeandvisual.com/rainbow

It's basically an XML editor that can be used as a CMS for flash sites. The best thing is that it requires no backend/SWL and places no restrictions at all on the structure of your site or it's data. It's very visual and intuitive which makes it easy to construct your own scheme.

Here's a list of key features:

Runs in browser
Move, delete, duplicate and rename nodes
Add and remove multiple attributes using a simple dialog box
Avoid writing poorly formed XML
Edit XML files live online
Upload Images and files
Automatically create thumbnails
Admin and User log-ins
Lock and hide elements from user
Define child templates to define your own node type
No backend scripting necessary
Customizable scripts
Doesn't dictate structure of your data/website - you can easily design the CMS to your own needs

Hope it's useful!
Cheers,
James
