Hi. I am a huge RTS game fan. I especially love Homeworld 2 & A Bridge Too Far (ABTF). I am looking to see if there might be a few folks that would want to team up and maybe get a cool flash game going.

I recently walked into a Games Workshop and played my first game of Warhammer 40k. I really liked it because a) it was a board game, b) it was a dice-based strategy game and c) I like the realism envolved in calculating distances and troop attributes.

I think it would really be cool to incorporate Warhammer 40k into a top-down (aka. bird's eye view) map and use some of the troop attribute calculations along with some means of getting the dice play feature in there. (I am trying get this down as the thoughts come to me, so pardon me if this comes out like mush)

I really like HW2's HUD to show you distances. Same with ABTF.

Any takers on this. Please realize this would be just for fun. If anything just shoot me some of your thoughts and ideas.

Enclosed I included a RangeFinder system that I worked on while doing a map project. Click the box to see if you can move it. If it is green then fine, if red it is out of its range.

thanks Shapulin. Just post here if you have anything you want to contribute. Right now the biggest thing I need help on is solidifying the class structure.

As of now I am building it with a World (map) class that will populate the terrain and bldgs and also deal with the movements of the overall map. There will also be a player class that will have an array to store various units which are the base class for combat. I just don't really know how to assign certain classes to handle certain things. For example, should the world class handle all Unit motion or should that be handled by the Unit instance and it can send updates to the World class. Things like this are causing the most delay and could use the assistance on.
