Ok, I'm working on my first ever site.

http://applaudthepain.stygiandesign.com/index.html

It's nowhere near done and still needs a whole bunches of stuff. You can only click the enter button right now. Can you all let me know what you think about the site so far? Be critical, anything you think might look good, or any suggestions you have, I wanna hear.

Also, I'm not sure what the legal text/copyright is supposed to say. I want to credit the band, and the design site.

First site? definetly not your first graphic.. its awesome.

I like the splash a lot, and the site design is okay. I dunno, its original, but the teeth are freaky and overall its a downgrade from the splash, but what can yeah do. The text is too smooth to feel like it matches IMO, but thats just being picky.

The splash = nice, but the page = scary ... I can't exactly tell what is what because you dont have any text displayed...it might be a little too much texture but as I said, I'm having trouble just telling what is what...update and let us know! Keep at it.

Like the others have said. I really dig the splash page, but then once you click enter, the interest is lost. The splash page provides alot of potential! Good work.

Thanks to all of you. You're right about the main page, its a bit too much I think. I'll work on making it a bit more simplistic and re-post.

thanks again

Really nice work on the splash!

a preloader would be nice.

Yea, I agree. It took a little too long to load for me.

I like the site, but I have to agree it's a bit freaky.

I'd suggest randomizing the Enter button. When you roll over it, it does this fade effect thing kinda resembling a dying flourescent light. But the animation only lasts a couple seconds, and then it just repeats itself. If you could make the fade more random, it'd look a little more natural. Yeah, I know, it's a really picky thing to point out, but it's just a suggestion.

Yea, that's a good idea. Nice job of pointing that out.

No, it's not picky. It's a good idea. I'll try it out.

I guess I should've explained. The sites for a metal band, so freaky = good

Wow! That's like a zillion times better than my first website! Go Gummy!

I really like the stone texture but I'd like to see it faded into the background.

*2 hours later*

I planned on just doing a quick comp of what I meant by the faded background and explain how to make your stone look better but I got carried away (see image below). lol

Anyways, to get you stone to look this way sharpen your image a couple of times and play around with the levels (ctrl + L, then move the arrows). Then take a soft brush and paint in some shading. Then using a small grungy brush highlight the edges.

Wow!! *squints* I love that, everything on there is just perfect. And it only took you 2 hours?!? You are obviously a god!!

I see why you would fade the texture, it makes everything pop out at you and focuses all the attention on the info.

Thanks for the support and for taking the time to create something this amazing. That one picture already helped me learn alot about the layout and structure of a band site.

I have an idea for the pre-loader but have no clue on how to make it work. I want a ring of knives fading in and out one by one. If anyone would want to help me out with the coding, I'd appreciate it. I have the image made already.
