I wanted to drop this thread to give a shout out to the super job I think my friend did on this tree. basically the spread is to talk about how my company is environmentally "green" by saying that our reusable steel is actually eco-friendly. so anyway, my boss had the idea of changing the natural tree metal. I'm like "ummm.....sounds like fun" - and passed the chore off to ps superstar Juddski McGavern for a little metallic magic act. are you guys as impressed as I am?!?

ps don't worry about the fuzziness in the lower-middle of the merged image -- I knew it wouldn't be in the final image frame so I didn't mess w/ it :hat:

Looks great! The only thing I don't like is the part of the cut out that is around the "Steel: the New Green" I'd rather see a smooth flowing line there other than that smooth then corner ... other than that it looks real nice.

Meh... I think it's ok. While I know that a metal tree isn't real... it still just seems a little more fake than it could. A couple of things that come to mind is the reflection of the base should prolly be grass, and then the grass should also even bee a little bit brighter since the tree would catch the sunlight and reflect it back onto the grass.

The whole image all together is blended poorly... the right side two different scenes... grass & terrain is off... but that's not seen on the final piece anyway.

I don't think it's bad... but I think there could be more done to it to improve.

Some good ideas there simp. I definatly agree that some reflections on the grass and the base of the tree would be sweet.

yeah...like I said, I wasn't really worrying about wasting time on that since it wasn't going to be in the final composition anyway.

but yeah, you're probably right about the base of the tree. I'll tell that slacker to get on it.

Oh also, the leaves and things should be reflecting color too... so while it's ok that it's all platinum lookin and all that jazz... really it should be reflecting blue and green from the ground and sky... I think I'm gettin to technical on it... I may just do this myself to please myself w/ my own ideas ahaha.

Maybe it's more of a pewter, and doesn't reflect much.

Im not exactly sure how metallizing a tree gives the impression of eco-friendly steel. To me, when I see the tree, I think your goal is to replace nature with metal and thats not a very good impression at all IMO.

As for the job, I thought it was fine. The only problem I had with it as the glows. The one at the trunk almost works if it wasnt in the middle of a reflection of grass. The ones in the leaves seem overdone and out of place to me. All in all its pretty cool though :)

I do see your point here. I may not even be totally sold on it - but I do think it can work.

the situation is this: we make a lot of product, mostly laminate, but our steel is by far the most eco-friendly. so, naturally, we were looking for a way to creatively blend the two together - "steel and eco-friendly" - to me the imagery is just a way to catch your attention here -- make you think..."oh, I guess steel can be good for the environment"

no doubt man ---- glad to see you took a stab at it. I see what you were saying with the green and blue reflections on the leaves, etc. nicely done. I just had the fellas checking out your efforts, so they were not in vein! - 'preciate it
