Hey guys, I'm very new to business card printing..

I was wondering if such photoshop effects can be put into business cards design..

I wanna go for a very reflective glossy look..

So most prolly the card will be glossy or UV printed..

btw if i want to design an unique size of name cards , lets say 30% smaller than the usual one with rounded edges.. Can most print shops do that? or usually this can only be achieve by more professional printshops

Yes you could definitely print that graphic. It would print in 4 color process though (cmyk) which would be more $ than just a few spot colors. (depending on your quantity).

Yes, any printer will print the cards at the size you need. What they do is take your initial artwork, then put however many they can fit onto a larger sheet of paper like 8.5x11". And just about any shop will have a round corner "die-cut" to trim your edges. Always check with the print house first on everything, including the type of paper stock you want to use. They'll tell you everything you'll need to do.

thanks dru for the info,

just a few quick questions..

1) um how much more expensive we talking here? lets say a normal one cost 1 dollar, the 4 color process method would cost?

2) I want a reflective card (something like credit card :D ) , so if i go for UV printing do i need to get a glossy type of paper?

juz wanna check out cuz i dont wanna get rip on printshops :D

1) Depends on the printer and the quantity, the more you buy the cheaper it'll be.

2) No, you don't want a glossy paper if you're doing a UV print. The UV will be glossy enough and buying a glossy paper won't do you much good. The only thing it'll really do is raise your cost.

hey simplistik, your card is da bomb.. do you mind posting your card in larger size? I would like to see the texture and reflectiveness of your card..

Also, for the UV print, roughly how expensive is it? (lets say normal card cost 1 USD, UV printed card cost = ? )

and, i read from the thread saying "die-cut" cost alot?

I'm setting my print budget high, but not over the roof though..
