Hey people. This is a layout I'd like a critique on. (obviously)
It's my first paying job, and I really want to do a splendid job on it. The client is a photographer, and the only words of advice as far as the design goes were "I want it calm and blue". Yep, only 6 words to guide me along. So, I give you this:

Please feel free to say anything your evil minds allow. C:-) (as long as it's truthful)
Just so everyone understands, the picture to the right is only temporary. I will be replacing it with one of my client's asap.

not bad, is it flash/HTML?
feels a little empty for some reason.
(your client sounds better than mine so dont complain, lol).

Well, my client insisted on HTML, although I thought Flash would have givin me a better grasp. The emptiness is probably because you're not seeing the gallery with the pictures etc. . . (and the main content area only has a faint gradient)
Lol, you really think I have a better client? I'll take that as a compliment. :)

It's got a good vibe going. I like clean and simple. You don't want to draw attention from the photos which are the central element. It would be helpful to see a subpage to see how the design works throughout the site.

I know I would definitally want to do that atm, but I'm busy rescueing my hard drive and all my life inside. :( I will be sure to update with a subpage once I get my hard drive back to functioning. Wish me luck! Lol

I don't know about the texture with the flower being the opening graphic. Seems a bit too contrasting...a nice flower, with harsh concrete texture...hmmm...Other than that, its a simple design that will work for the client I'm sure, but try some other designs before you get too comfortable with that one. To have at least 4 or 5 designs to sift through would help ya out. Let us see them too if you do come up with any other choices. Keep at it!

Thanks for the comment BoonDock. That flower will most likely be replaced by a waterfall or something of the sort. About the texture, should I simply make it softer? I dunno, I am just here wandering around aimlessly trying to get some feedback. :)
@danulf
Yeah, I need a lot of luck. I just tried using Knoppix (a Linux distro), but it's not detecting ym hard drive! I am currently trying to resolve the problem with Ubuntu, but I need to find a cd-r in this pit of hell, aka 'My Family Computer'.
