Can someone help me re-design my site please? I'm looking for a futuristic-slum feel. I tried using metal texture (http://kirupa.com/motiongraphics/metal_texture.htm) tutorial, but i couldn't get it working correctly since I have little experiance in photoshop. I'm kind of looking to use that type of effect on the metal (silve border) of my site. Mabey fix up the bg ground to go with that as well. Anything will help. I'm tring to get it to fit inn with the new animation series I'm starting.

Thank you for even taking the time to read this.

You need a much better design to compete with newgrounds. Have a look around on the net for some good layout tutes. :p

I already know what I want for a layout. I just want a more detailed version of my current one. And like I said I tried getting a tutorial I wanted to add to the site's feel but I couldn't get it working. Also Newgrounds is IS about the crappy future but doesn't really show it in the layout, which has glitches Wade Fulp should fix. Finally the animation series my site is goin to be modified to tie into is about a war on Newgrounds (in the crappy future NG is supposed to have the problems of).

Well, I started a whole new site design using a town-type layout. Its not done yet but tell me what u think of the idea.

You'll need flash player 8 for this.

Newgrounds still is an awsome site. I still think you need to really think over the whole interface design.
Most of what you are trying to accomplish could be done in html and php.
Also try and make sure that the pages dont open in a new window, this can get annoying after a while :D

I dont want to sound like a jerk, but both could use a lot of improvement.

its an ok concept but should have a more detailed cityscape that doesn't repeat as much, maybe do a vector version in illustrator and import it to flash for a more finished look. it just has that beginning all flash no outside progams look to it, flash's gradient tool is much more time consuming to use to create the same type of detailed look that you can get with a program like illustrator or freehand.

the other option is to do a fine render by hand with pen and pencil, color it in photoshop and use several raster layers.

Like guinness said, flash's gradients arent the best out there. The idea's there, but it still looks very amateurish, with all the bevels and such. Flash is capable of doing so much more, as long as you're willing to put the time into it. Into learning it, becoming proficient with it, and using it. I assume you made it in flash 8. You're not using the full potential of it. Thats the least you could do, considering that you're 14, starting out with flash and already have flash 8, the latest installment from macromedia. :shifty: :sigh:
