My attention goes to the bottom, it will be better to put "gallery photography" on top.

Eh, I liked it better on the bottom, but I don't like the lines radiating from the center of that red sun shape...anything else you could put in the background to compliment the swirly graphics you have?

looks better if the logo is on the bottom of the page, but It really draws your attention to the logo, the contentbox just gets in the background...
I like the logo-thing, and it's not a major problem that the logo stands out too much, play around and see what you get...

I somehow think the banner looks too heavy at the top... but also at the bottom. Maybe it's too intense compared to the mainframe of the site?

maybe if you had the red lines fade away so they weren't so strong. For instance solid and strong at the logo but fade to nothing the further from the logo they get (like the logo on top too)

nice colours but I think maybe the content box is a bit large for all that text (I know it's not the final content), may want to think of having the content box be a different size if you're on the main page, if you're at the gallery....

good start though, I like it :cool:

argg...i just remembered that he wants his font like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v41/coatrackforguns/mgallery_logo_black2.gifI don't really think my design will fit with that 'logo' so much. back to the beginning it looks like....

I absolutely hate that so much, but i guess i have to. well, at least for his logo anyways.

tell him he sucks at design ;)
but no.. maybe make the top banner smaller..
the first thing people are going to see is representation, and then they are going to want to see examples of work done.

I think you need to think that when you're showing images, most of the time the background needs to be black, because what you want people to look at is not the background, but the image, this ways you pay attention to the picture.

If he wants warm colors, maybe you could use them just as rollovers or some transparencies, or the color of his logo.

I think and as you can see taking a look at these logos isthat you need a dark background and maybe not a logo, just his name with a nice font.

I know what all you guys are saying about the darkness to showcase the photos, but he is the one that wants those colors; i just gave him what he wanted.
I just showed him the site and he told me all the changes he wanted (fonts and placement). he liked it though, so i'm going to be doing that site for him.

Oh, on his screen he's seeing a light blue bg behind the text box and lines. I saved it as a transperent gif and png, but it still showed up on his screen like that. Its only doing it on IE. Anybody else have this problem? One more thing, how can i get the site to where it adjust to the viewer's resolution so you don't ahve to scroll?

Here (http://mgalleryphotography.com/1.html) is the final layout.

I am sure you have already heard this, however the title font should be consistant with the site body.

Great design!

Thank you,
Peter

Tell him that...I just gave him what he wanted. Its his money and his site, so it doesn't really bother me if he likes something that I'm not too fond of.

The final one looks nice.
The background will probably tile though, so if you've got a larger resolution (as most designers do) you'd see the top of the background at the bottom of the screen... Cos it's repeated... If you can understand that.

how can i fix that?

Its not bad.

It seems most flash photographer sites just use like a simple text menu, and a white box with a drop shadow that resizes between sections. Simple, professional, and nice. Just an idea.

I agree, but once again...that's what he wanted. Can anybody tell me how can I get my background to fit to 100% of the screen so it won't tile? Also how can I get the flash file to change to the user's resolution?

--thanks for all the c&c and help everybody.

because your bkg is a constant bkg.. just make a 3px wide strip that is 1200px high or whatever the height of the original bkg is and in css, put this
body{margin:0px;padding:0px;background:#ffffff url(yourimageurl.jpg);}

if you don't want it to repeat vertically, then just add in background: repeat-x;
