Hi,
Is there any solution to be able to import FLV Flash 8 encoded files (with alpha) into Adobe Premiere Pro? Or Adobe After Effects 6.5?
Thx

I was trying that the other day and I wasn't able to get it to work. I am thinking no, but someone with greater knowledge may know a way...

I'm counting on some sort of third-party plugin.
If someone thought it might be useful.
Well, to me it surely would be...

All the editing I do is from the video editor INTO Flash. There wouldn't be a way to regain the video that I know of back to the editor. You should just keep all of your footage on a the actual tape or back it to DVD of you are low on DV tapes.
Why would you need to edit an .flv? The .flv is the final product. That's like wanting to decompile a .swf file. But I could be wrong.

I don't think its possible, and if it were i don't think you would be happy with the results. FLV is like a much much nicer MPEG but if you try to edit it it will look really bad.
Compressed video never turns out right if you try to edit it and re-compressit.

Why would you need to edit an .flv? The .flv is the final product. That's like wanting to decompile a .swf file. But I could be wrong. Here's why: I have a big collection of uncompressed MOV files spreaded across hundreds of CDs and DVDs and it is a pain in the "neck" to insert/browse/eject when i'm working for a project. Now, using this extraordinary FLV compressor that support alpha also, I can easily end up with maximum 20 DVDs in all, which is great.
Now you probably asking yourself "why would he want to use compressed video instead uncompressed, which offers maximum quality?" and I answer:
1) because I want to sell MOV collection and
2) because it is a waste of space with undistinguishable quality gain above human eye threshold.
It is like buying a pair of speakers having a 20Hz-100kHz frequency response... Who cares of what is above 20kHz (or less for old guys like me :) ) ? I made some FLV compression tests at PAL resolution, 60 frames/sec, with alpha channel and encoded for 5000kb/sec and results are AWESOME. The finest details are there. See for yourself at h**p://www.masster.ro/test/alpha8.swf (4.5MB).
So... back to my topic. Can anyone find a solution for importing FLV in Premiere?

Maybe the folks in the Adobe forums can help?
(Adobe Forums.) (http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/main.html)

*lol* I completely get your saying.
I like the "frequency response" analogy. I don't know how many times I've done a mixing project for someone and they want it at the highest quality but can't tell the difference between a .wav and an .mp3.
Yeah, the forums 'might' help, but I don't think there's going to be any immediate response with what you want to do; good idea though. NAB 2006 is right around the corner so who knows what Adobe might have up their sleeve with the fabled PP 2.0
By the way...have you tried contacting On2 directly to see if they might be able to assist?

What if you brought your .flv in to a Flash time line, and then exported it as a Quicktime movie, using the animation codec, and color setting of millions +.

jasarius,
thx for support and for the idea of contacting On2 development team. let's see what can they do about it...
superconan,
although your solution is possible, it is not optimum because I will pass away till that new batch conversion will occur :) after MOV to FLV one...
But, let me hear your opinion about compressing uncompressed MOV to H264. It supports alpha compression too? And is there any software alternative other than Quicktime Pro to export in that format? Because I've done some tests and it takes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to compress...

Sorenson squeeze does batch processing. For some larger projects, I use Sony Vegas to convert/compress files. Its way faster than PP 1.5 and supports dual processors and any HD footage you have, natively.
The Nero 7 upgrade may support conversion as well, but I'm not sure on the specs.
Now that I read that...that wasn't much help. :)
