I have to agree with unflux. There are a lot of similarites between ths layouts. The colors are differnt but every thing else is basicly the same. THe location of every thing is very similar( menu layout, Logo and site title, contetn layout, etc).

Now i know in web design there are similarities that pop up but this is to close. This site is so similar i have to wonder where the insperation came for his site.

The slanted button style is very common, in fact expansion 1 of 2advanced used slanted buttons as well so am I missing something here Unflux?

Come on look at the side by side pic. They look like they where made form the same template. Look at the layout. The location and the whole set up is mirrored all most. I totaly think Unflaux is just in his claim.

sorry unflux, but i think you're overreacting a little. I don't think that he copied the design from you, because i've seen "your" kind of design many times b4 but you're the first one who complains. Sorry, but even though they are quite similar, i think his navigation looks better than yours. and just because you see this one similarity, i don't think that it means anything. if everyone, who notices something that someone else did the same way as he/she did, started complaining, this place would be a mess because many wwws that are posted here are very similar. That's often how people learn...

If the designs aren't the same, I wouldn't call it a rip. Besides, there are many designs that are similar to yours. Did they all copy you too? It's hard to say. Just because another member on this forum has a similar site design to yours doesn't mean he copied your design. I would give electrongeek the benefit of the doubt.

It saddens and angers me to see what is happening here. I thought this board was a place to give and get help and show new ideas without havign to worry about some one seeing it and using your idea for there own.

What we have here is clearly a serial ripper. In 2 other threads beofre this we have him accused of stealing othere ppls work and ideas. In the thread where he is being told to change his site so it doesn't look so close to a promment board members, Unflux posted. Here we see pixelmoder had the chance to see unflux's site while he is changing his own. I think we can rule out this was an accedent.

He even copied tutorial's from this site without properly crediting the creator.

The fact that anybody would support what is so clearly a ripp realy dissapoints me

If someone can ripp a site like this and get support on his side when it is so clearly a copy well I won't be taking my chances on having my ideas ripped.

This thread has really changed the way I will post my work on this board. :-\

The reason i say this is becuase i love this board. I ow it and kirupa a huge debt in advancing my skills as a designer. I don't want the board to get a reputation as a place to steal ideas(which it seems it might be getting http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19585). So lets continue to try and make the board better and not let stuff like this happen without challange.

ok. i would just like to add one opinion.
As i already mentioned, i see 1 similarity between those two pages, but that's it. but why should he change his design because of this? i really think you're being unfair to him. if also the entire design looked similar to unflux's, i would agree with you guys, but for now i don't. and the picture (banner), if you think that that idea is also copied from you, then you're also wrong. as you maybe haven't notced, since so many www's on this forum look so similar, people who take them to learn will not be able to develop something different and that's why there are more and more www's that look similar. but that doesn't mean that one is trying to ripp of someone else. it just means that they're experimenting (trying out). maybe they just aren't able to come up with something original.

i'm not trying to defend pixelmorder, and i'm also not trying to offend UNFLUX. i'm just trying to be fair.

As much as I admire your site, it is not the only one like it out there. It is done in a style that is very popular right now.

Unflux: Your last statement was quite immature if you ask me. This situation is a situation between you and pixelmorder, not you, pixelmorder and kirupa.com. So I don't see why you would ban yourself from this forum simply because Pixelmorder did or did not copy your layout (my opinion on the matter will not be stated because this is an issue that can only be solved between you and pixelmorder)

I'm sorry you feel that way Unflux, but one thing about designing is that you never own the right to a trendy type of design that is very popular.

You chose to design in a style that is very popular right now and there are tons of sites out there that have similarities to your layout. They may not be 100% identical, but they share some common aspects.

If pixelmorder's layout was identical then I would be all over his a $ $ as well, but in this case, I just feel that it wasn't a rip. He might of been inspired by you, which you should be flattered, but his layout isn't identical.

There is a difference from being inspired and ripping....

I happen to agree that the designs look similiar, but as far as it being a rip, i would not say that. Unflux's site, (which is awesome by the way, and completely deserving of SOTW) is not terribly different from all of the other flash design sites that are out there. They all use sharp lines and 45 degree angles, and its really all the same.

Kirupa.com has nothing to do with this matter, the problem most probably lies somewhere inside you and your own four walls.You sound as if you think that you came up with a completely new idea in design and claim all the rights for it, which is totally wrong.

Clearly he is upset because he feels that his work has been copied. His site is not an achive of photographs of him and his buddies drinking beers. It is his livleyhood and brand.

If any of you hang around the random forum you can find countless posts of him talking about his new office space etc.

I am not on either side of the fence here, but if felt <b> your </b>companies identity had been stolen youwould feel exactly the same way.

Christ its not that important to me. I design sites on the side for a little extra play money or vacations. I have another full time job. Flux does it to survive.

If Pixelmoder took microsoft's design he would be in court trying to avoid paying intellectual property damages.

Im not a pro like Unflix but i have eyes that kan see !

1. The logo is not the same is Unflix`s
2.Colors it not the same.
3.the navigation menu is way to far from Unflix`s design
4.Unflix uses flash with cool anitmation and sound but pixelmorder. is simply using a simple cool design of his.
5.The images - he do not use same images as you ?
6.The background !
7.The font(s)
8.he have shout box you dont !

Your way of thinking is quite distorted if you think I ripped you. I'm not gonna argue with you, the only people who think I ripped you are people who are friends with you, coinsidence, I think not.

I am not changing my whole layout just because I have 45 degree lines. The way of laying out the IFrames is the exact same as my previous layout, which was launched last November, so if anything, you copied my basic template.

I'm not arguing about it, more people than not disagree with you. Drop it. I dont appreciate being named a ripper when I've most likely been in the business much longer than you.
