that's still pretty good. It sucks that you have to pay for it all at once though. But eh, I like mediatemple

yah man they are pretty good. I am sure they have more down time than, say, media temple but it's a good place for sure.

age means nothing - I havent had any problems with my account either.

my avatar and footer are hosted on my site - so when you see them down, my site is down. Doesnt happen often.

dr2.net is definatly the way to go. sureshot had a thread a while back and got both me and mdipi to sign up with them.

one of the best parts of their service is the forums, you can ask any questions you're having problems with and they'll answer very quickly very nicely.

heres the package i bought:
http://home.cfl.rr.com/error42/1.jpg

all of that for $20 a year the only catch, if you could call it that, is you have to have a domain already. if thats a problem, go to www.whateveryouwantyourname.tk and have it redirect to your dr2 site.

their data transfer sucks.... is that per month or per year?

SureShot
April 3rd, 2003, 12:45 PM
per month Lava

hojo
April 3rd, 2003, 04:52 PM
yeah, that data transfers per month, with everything else per year.

lava
April 3rd, 2003, 04:55 PM
hey hojo, I'm thinking about archiving the shows, so that they're always up. Do you think you can host yours? Your new shows will always be hosted on my server.

hojo
April 3rd, 2003, 04:58 PM
yeah, thats not a problem. i might be able to swing doing some of yours and/or souls old shows too. i'll have to check on some things first though.

lava
April 3rd, 2003, 05:04 PM
do you have 4 GB transfer? Cause if we start getting more hits, which we will, we're going to get close to that transfer rate. That's why I went with MediaTemple, they have 10Gb transfer rate. The problem now is that I have a bunch of other stuff on my server.

hojo
April 3rd, 2003, 05:14 PM
yeah, i dont have anything on my site as of yet so i could temp host some stuff for you if you're touching that limit.

yeah me too. im at doteasy and i own a domain, and you get free hosting. i cant wait to renew my domain so i get it cheaper, with a hosting plan at dr2.net. im thinking about getting the first one, and buy a little extra bandwith and space.

http://dr2.net is more expensive than iPowerWeb.com right ?

Jubba
June 24th, 2003, 11:47 AM
no. the basic plan in only $20 a year.

ipowerweb is 100 a year.

Voetsjoeba
June 24th, 2003, 11:49 AM
Oh I thought you had to pay the yearly fee plus the monthly. It's indeed cheaper then :) But ... is it reliable !? And what are the catches ?

Jubba
June 24th, 2003, 11:52 AM
i don't know. I have stuck with ipowerweb. Those who use it say its reliable, but I won't try ti...

Voetsjoeba
June 24th, 2003, 12:05 PM
So ... no iPowerWeb. Dr2.net then. The plan sound ok to me (1gig space, 25gig transfer, lots of features, unlimited subs, almost everything) for $27 once and $15/month. Should I do this thing ?

Jubba
June 24th, 2003, 12:14 PM
wait huh?

I'm saying that you should go with ipowerweb. Or are your going to go with Dr2.net because of the price?

Voetsjoeba
June 24th, 2003, 01:02 PM
Oh sorry, I missundastood. Not that it makes much difference tho. I want to use dr2.net indeed because of the price, and that is because it's for a gaming clan. So ... any advice ?
