Sorry ya'll dont have a bunch of variations on this one. I just want to know what ya'll think of this one and more importantly have you seen this concept some where before? I made it but I got this naggin feeling that I am subconciously rippin it from some where..... :ne:

DDD, thats a DEAD SET COPY OF....
something im yet to see ;)
Nice work man. I'm not really feelin the two slanted 'T' characters, maybe its because theres 3 grades of slant (the curve, the vertical characters, and the T, which is slightly different to the curve) or whatnot... maybe its just me.

not feeling the T's or the cutoff N but i do like it bro - especially the 2 color version -

I like the line concept but the font to me looks a little crappy. Maybe a more plain font along the lines of Arial???
I've not seen that concept before but everything has been done hundreds of times anyway.

I think the font is good. :( no Arial! :( Just my opinion but Arial is sooooo plain! I really honestly like the font the way it is. It looks really great. IMHO

Cool, but maybe make the mask layer include that N? Looks kinda weirdish...

i havent seen that before, but with that word, interconnect, you can come up with a concept that is alot better than that. i'd explore connecting the letters somehow in a nice flow which i think would look really cool.

September 7th, 2005, 08:59 AM
Coming from you DDD it doesn't really strike me as anything spectacular, but that doesn't mean that it's not an alright design for a logo. What is Interconnect? I like the cut off 'n' the best ... not to hip to the squiggle

Looks cool, I prefer the colour version :)

i don't know man, i'm not feelin' this one. the area around the O and N look awkward. the slanted T's aren't doing it for me either.

Thanks guys for the crits and comments.
Yea I dont think these are my strongest works to date either, but I cant always knock them out of the park  . But it fits the company and the personality of the client. Which is in the semi-conductor and connector business. I have the "squiggle" going in between the letters to try to make it pop and give it a lil depth plus dynamics. I may add a few of you guys suggestions if these are thrown back. Keep em coming.

Could you possibly get rid of the line and make it a straight line through the word using the same colors? (I don't know its probably my work making me not like the line you currently have, we have a board full of logo "don'ts" and one is swish'es and curvy lines etc. so that might be why I am having a hard time with it...) Either way man, your work is typically impeccable so i doubt you have much to worry about with the client.
DDD
September 7th, 2005, 10:49 AM
Out of curiosity that board of do's and dont's and the squiggle line rule. Is that a internal policy or style guide? Or is that something you apply to everything? If it is the latter, may I ask why?

September 7th, 2005, 03:35 PM
it has enough style to look like an interesting logo but my main problem is that nnect look like they are pushed back in perspective because the line goes over it. Maybe make the line go through the o instead? The T's and the R look strange also.

Made a slight update....Seemed the client didnt like the "n" as well. Wanted it to intersect with the "curve".

That looks much better actually now that I see it. Good job! :thumb2:

Eh, I liked it better cutting the 'n' but that was just a personal preference. Oh and the board of do's and don'ts is basically just a joke amongst the designers here and there are a lot of logos that we have gathered that have swishes and curvy lines and other things like we say " dont use anything that resembles lucky charms" like no hearts, clovers etc. It's just something fun the designers came up with to post whenever we see another logo that falls under those typical things... Not trying to classify what you have done as something that they or I wouldn't like. I think the logo itself works just fine!

Nice work:)
And the font is really sweet. Did you make it ?
The angle of the T's give them some perspective that somehow is in contrast with the other letters. But the design is really ellegant.
Is it a telecom company ?

Guess that makes us chopped liver then hu DDD? I mean... i didn't know about this "joke"... :P And as for the do's and don'ts, if you use a squigly line, clovers, hearts and purple horseshoes, if it's ugly well... then that's a don't, but if it's not... it's a do :P :D
As for this logo, well ya know... personally I DO like it, but I think it's common. Communication and lines of sound, waves and things like that, are all common, of course because ppl recognize it and relate to it, so it's why they are used. But, then you places like Cingular... who go against that grain. I dunno, it's good... just not great IMO. And for some reason I keep thinking I've seen something similar, and it had to do with Playstation something or other....

Noe I did notmake the font....I altered in ATM a lil bit. But thanks for the crit. Oh BTW they are a semi-conductor and connector company
Sim
Yea thats what i said in my earlier post, it's like I have seen it somewhere before. I also made that same comment about cingular wireless and how they went against the grain and hit a homer with their branding. Sometimes I think we are like those twins from GI-Joe....
The logo fits the client well and they like it, so I guess it is cool. But I feel like some of you guys, that it is somehow lacking. But thanks for the critiques folks.

I suggest you could get rid of the italic T's and play with the ribbon changing from blue to orange just to mix it a bit more with the font.
TheCanadian
September 8th, 2005, 12:03 AM
I looks great :). Maybe try reversing the colours of the ribbon, so that the middle segment is orange and the outside ones are blue. I'm just not a fan of that N attached to the ribbon. Maybe evn outline the N with white like you did with the O.

I dunno, just looks like a nice font and a line to me man, not a logo, the first T and the curve look out of wack same with the second T, and the N and the curve just look wrong.
Ive seen some of your work about this forum and you seem to be capable of a lot better, was this a client request to have this style of logo/type? if so disregard what I just said, lol :)

Yes Sim and DDD are def. chopped liver when it comes to design, you guys might as well just give up and leave it to the professionals! :thumb2:

I would also get rid of the italic t's. They make the logo look kind of long. And I would make the middle line of the "E" touch the base of the letter, if you get my drift. Also, I think the curved line needs to be cut off furthur from the letters, and then you could drop the tiny bit of line that is inside the "O". Cus I think it might look weird on a smaller vs of the logo. But overall i like it:thumb: Good work!

DDD, it didn't strike me the way your other logos have so a bit surprised but I guess it's because I'm used to your high standards! :P
It's not a bad logo but the 'n' just looks worse now compared to before.

It does resemble that logo....Hopefully that is not some erectile dysfunction medicine....lol. But thanks I never saw that logo before, so I know I am not recalling a memory of that logo.

@DDD: So hows this logo going? Any more changes/modifications done to it? Also will you still be using the same concept even though there is a similar one in a few posts above?
I dont mind the current logo youv done at the moment, I think the curve is fine, but its the font/text that is putting me off, it just doesnt seem to fit in my opinion, looking forward to the final outcome :thumb:
DDD
September 9th, 2005, 11:59 AM
I do believe this is the final version, as I have begun on the website now. The font style was their choice. I am not a big fan of those techy, sci-fi style fonts, but I was kinda guided to it.

Calm down, Versus, if you want to say he's ripped it, you've gotta give evidence of why you think that.
What would be so bad anyway? If the company/anyone else thought it, they'd report it, the company would check, it would be sorted normaly.
So just.. Why do people worry so much.
