My last portfolio site sucked, so I made a new one:

What do you think?

Ummm...it's good. From your resume, I see that you know PHP and actionscript and what not...so I guess you're a developer? Your site looks like a developers site. Not really that creative...just plain and boxy. But it works.

its alright, not that crazy about it. took me a few seconds to figure out where the scroll bars were on the portfolio section, i think that style is really over used, it looks alright though.

In England our dates go DD/MM/YYYY not MM/DD/YYYY :)
I knew people would question that :P

its worth noting that americans are the only people who do the MM/DD/YYYY, the rest of the rest of the world do it the other way.
nice site btw, nice and clean and to the point :)

MM/DD/YYYY is the worst idea. Everyone knows what month it is currently, why should you have to look at the 3rd and 4th digit all the time when they are the most common to change...
sorry to get off topic,
I like the site a lot, respect to the people that make good looking css / html, its a lot harder than flash, but when it's done well its just as effective...

It looks ok but it displays your works well and services so it does the job.
the design reminds me of Sebs site (www.sebhughes.com)....the geberal design not the graphics.

yeah - it looks ok - it has that css layout look although its done with tables.
One thing - the greyness of it makes it seem duller than it should be, I feel the content area - underneath the pic could be enhanced if you chose white instead - or a very very light grey - but thats just me.
All the bestest.

one thing i noticed - when i hover over the buttons - all work except the services button - it seems to be lacking an over state - or is it just me?
slinkyart
September 7th, 2005, 04:34 PM
Yeah, the "services" button doesn't have a rollover state.

hey, but isn't it just the british influenced countries that drive on the left side of the road? i'm not bashing britain.. i think i'd rather live over there than over here if it wasn't for the taxes and high prices, but we did make the car what it is... ;) henry ford, man.. henry ford.

:) - thats true zach we drive on the different side to you. i wonder if its just us that drive on the left hand side - perhaps australians do that too? the irish do the same as us - in dublin.
You'd like it here zach probably, apart from the drunks, fish and chips, over cooked vegetables and rain.

The services button dosen't have a rollover state because I fixed the spelling and tried to upload the new images but my hosting has screwed up (again) so it semi-uploads files.
I'm concidering switching companies actually, the Eleven2Hosting one in Zach-E2's footer seems really cool.
Edit: My hosting is fixed now, so that rollover should be fine :)

I dunno, I have soooo many files to transfer, it would be a nightmare.
Litterally GB's worth of audio and video, as well as hundreds of images and html/php files etc..

ha ha.. just a bit. ;)
butters, if you have cpanel, it's a seamless transfer.. otherwise it might be a pain, but it's doable.

I like the site butters, people say the style is overused, it might be, bikini's are worn a lot and you dont see us complaining about that now huh?

@Zach- You know you wanna give me free hosting cause I am from kirupa, am I right....am I right?
Zach-E2
September 7th, 2005, 07:37 PM
Ok, because I love the boys and girls of Kirupa, I am going to make a request that all discussions of e2 stop here, but if you wish to continue them, hit me up on aim @ eleven2zach.
let's respect the rules here!

Why don't you feather the white line pattern around the interface. It would blend a bit more with the design. As it is now it looks forced.

You shouldn't do the rollovers in JavaScript, it is far better to do them in CSS. As a matter of fact it's insanely easier to do them in css, and there is absolutely no pause when you first roll over each of the buttons, anyway I like it keep up the good work man. Take Care.

I heard about this the other day...it has nothing to do with cars but more to do with sword fighting. back on oldy england there where rules of sword play that said somthing like always lead to the left, in turn when we built road for horse and cart we simply borrowd these rules and applyed them to the roads (thats the only reson). The rest of the world (mainly france) desided they where having none of that and just to be arkward changed the rules, many years later America followed france (again, mainly because the England was not flavor of the month back in 1776).
You could argue that there is not other nation on the planet more influenced by the UK than America
heres somthing else i found intresting...

wow, that had nothing to do with nothing :)

That is a simple and clean site but if you wanna make it more attractive and effective maybe you can add some flash to the top
