How did he make that image? I think it's done in 3d studio, but I'm not sure.

Do you mean the background.. i bet u could do it photoshop if u tried hard enough.. doesnt look too hard

Yeah, it looks pretty easy.
Mess around in photoshop a bit.

To me it looks like fire with the hue settings messed around with, or with a gradient map.

Then some transparancy and layed over top of text.

Just mess around.
