Hello all,

I have just been working on my own search engine (http://www.wingdude.net/google) using Google's API. The main features of the site are:

Faster Loading Time
Music Player as you search, whatever you link you click on the music will still remain playing while the page is open!
Free and Safe from spyware and Adware
BBC News Ticker of Latest News from around the world
Results open in new tab/window, useful when trying to filter through many different results
Re-skinned
Please tell me what you guys think, I have tested with Firefox and IE so far
Cheers

why people continue to put music on websites is beyond me...

Can anyone tell me what you think of it. Please!!
Feedback is really during these early development stages, if you want I can change the logo and the css file and brand you a version. But I need to know the good and bad sides of it.
thanks

seems cool and that's awesome that you have the ability to make it but why did you make it? What would be the purpose of using it over google?

My aim long-term is to be able to re-brand it for a company eg company x.
So on every computer in their network their home page is set by default to their own branded search engine.

This would give them a corporate feel. For instance the Music Player could be replaced with an existing list of favourites.

The Logo could be changed and the actual search results traces back to a css file which contains all of it style settings. I wouldn't need to charge too much because as long as the google ads are there, its fine for me.

Anyone else having any comments, suggestions or critiques. All are welcome

I Don't think its faster to load than googles?? :(

I know you are trying to be different but the music player doesn't really suit the site both in functionality (people go to a search site to search the web) and the skin makes it stick out like a sore thumb the same goes for the banner add at the bottom.

Apart from those you've only changed the title graphic to your name.

I appreciate you maybe were curious to use the Google API but the difference from a user stand point is a badr one compared to Google.

sorry :(

^^ I agree totally

change the player skin - make your logo better - it is not that crisp

tie the page together better - everything looks to separate

um... yeah.... way to go on the dev of the engine... nice features... but lets all be honest here: you;re not going to get anywhere with this [$$$ wise]. I still give you the props, but to think you're going to move in on the s. engine market - even the custom ones is a bit of a stretch.
