here's my quick attempt.... it's probably not really goth, more of an MTV evanescence "goth" but oh well.
basically i played with brightness/contrast to wash it out more, then i did some desaturating of the blue (especially on his face) because it was too vivid.
then i just got a good-old scratchy texture and laid it on in a multiply mode (masked out of his face) and made a copy of it with a red tint, and partially blended that in...
of course if you wanted to amplify the effect you could do a whole lot of grungy stuff like getting brushes with those little curly decorations, or scrawly text and stuff like that. but i kinda get confused about goth sometimes, i'm not fully sure of what "REAL" goth style is like.

Here's my version. Goth isn't really my style but you asked for it.

hehe i like what you did with the face /makeup. not so keen on the hands though.
dark, i actually can't, because i don't use photoshop, so you wouldn't be able to read my file format. i'll see if i can explain it a bit better, it shouldn't be a hard step.
you're talking about the texture masking right?
so, get your texture, and put it over the image in whatever blending mode gives you an effect you like (i think i used multiply for a nice dark look). Then, create the mask (it should show up as a black box next to the image on the layer).
Now, grab the a brush and start painting white in over the face. It should just erase the texture where you paint (but it's not really erasing, just hiding it). So, you just need to do that over the skin pretty much, because it just blends into all the dark areas so you can't see the difference.
hope this is clearer :)
