dude if the pic is black and white then change the layer to grayscale then play around with the hue, brightness, contrast and level until you get a good enuff resuly, then you simply sharpen the edges so they blend in with the picture

if the color for the face aint working out then tweak the body color a bit to suit the face.

That is a very disturbing pic to be working with.

you've just gotta work with coloring, sizing and the blend area.
the hardest thing is normally to get the image lighting and colors the same, skin tones really suck to work with!
and obviously if you don't have a good photo to start with it's never gonna be perfect.
in your case kirupa's head looks too straight-on for that body, and i think it needs to be a bit bigger too.

there's a lot to take into consideration, the angle of the head, the lighting (the model has professional 3 point lighting it seems whereas kirupa's picture is most probably outside or badly lit),

Skin tone is the hardest

didnt use the same head. You have to know what kinds of pictures work the best. if i had a free hour i would of made the skin color continue but i dont.
//edit, oops didnt export at a good quality. uhh i didnt save to late now.

templarian your head is at a better angle and position for the photo, but i think it's still too small... nice though.
