Unless I'm seriously mistaken you can't access the local file system using javascript in a web browser, that would be a system security violation.

are you asking for Java, or JavaScript?
Two totally different mediums

It appears they are talking about Java. They said Java, and everything they said sounds more like a programming language than a web language, so all signs point to Java.
Unfortunately, I don't know Java. I wish I did.

That is what I thought, just clarifying abzoid's statement is all...

I think Albuquerque should fix their signs. EVERYONE takes wrong turns at Albuquerque, it CAN'T just be coincidence.

If we're talking about a stand alone Java App then that's a whole different ball game, but a Java applet running in a browser still can't access the local file system.

Well I don't know too much about Java, but isn't Java used for programming as well as creating applets?

Right, that's why it's important to know if we're talkin' about a Java application or a Java applet. Two entirely different critters, written with the same language, but two different sets of rules re: access to the local file system.

Ah, I misread your statement, I thought you were stating that it was a Java applet. Sorry. "my bad"
