I was wondering if someone could help me?

I just finished a contest and the client is having problems opening the PSD files I sent them.

I designed the buttons in Photoshop 7 and the client is trying to open the files in Photoshop 5. Could this be the problem? *OR* maybe it's something that I did wrong? http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/images/smilies/blink.gif

PM and I can give you the link to the files.

Thanks
Heather

Don't think you did anything wrong :)

PS v5 won't like v7 - particularly if you've used advance effects in the PSD.

I've PM'd you - am happy to take a look at the PSD to see if there's anything else that might be causing the problem.

Hi missheather - I've had a look at the psds. Definitely can't be opened by v5. There's nothing that can be done as PS can't save backward compatibly.

The reason is the way that PS7 handles layers and effects (of which you have quite a few in some files) - PSv5 simply can't understand the information contained in a v7 psd. Sorry :(

As I see it, only two ways to proceed with your client - either he accepts flattened equivalents (ie uneditable) or... he gets an upgrade! :thumb:

Thanks for your help. I just e-mailed him telling him the bad news.

I hope I still get paid! *ha*
