My slideshow viewer is 550x350 and i need to change my 2048x1536 pictures to 550x350 but photshop won't let me. It will only let me keep the picture preportional to the original which is 550x413. Is there a way that anybody knows of to resize my pictures the size that i want them?

How I would personally do it is make a 550x350 doc in photoshop. Then open the image you want resizing and drag it onto the 550x350 doc. Then you can scale the image down (CTRL T) on the new document so you can get as much of the photo in as possibLE. Then save for web as usual. There may be a better way of doing this but I dont know it.

i did try creating a new document to do that but for some reason i couldn't get it to let me create anything other than a perfect square in the custom size setting.

Sounds strange that. OK save this and open in photoshop then try as I suggested.

NO NO NO...
do it in one step.... use the crop tool, and set it to the dimensions and dpi you want and crop your larger pictures = done.
Peace
