I thought i would give vector drawing a try as i have seen it nearly everywhere and it is a style i have never tried before. (i tend to ike roughed up, collage style design instead of cleaner lines). anyway i gave it a whirl in freehand mx with a photo i sourced off the net, and here's the final result.

what do you think?

Looks good, but did you actual do every vector shape? I know in Freehand and in Flash you can take an image an "vectorize" it without having to actually draw everything...not discrediting you at all, just wondering...nice job regardless.

No i drew every shape in freehand BoonDock . It wouldn't feel right just to hit a button and there you're done. I was going to use gradient fills, but decided I wanted to use individual shapes. Once you get the hang of the pen tool, you can make up an illustration fairly quickly. took me a little over 2 hours but since it was my first go at vector drawing, im sure my next go will be much quicker

Good job, especially for a first try :D
Nowadays, I prefer to do original artwork in Illustrator (or in your case Freehand), since tracing images isnt as much creative. Anyway, it's lovely! Keep it up!

your right IJM, tracing an image in freehand isn't that over creative. I mean essentially a steady hand, a bit of patience and tracing skills is all you need to create an image like that. I actually plan to take this model and put her in another scene with other original created elements of mine, so that should lift the level of creativity. I just wanted to have a go at this cool, and rather simple technique (just my opinion).

As for her eyes colombianking, they actually are coloured brown, black and dark pink, so that must give the illusion of purple. The loud purple background would't help the fact either!

Thanks guys/gals for all your responses!

Cheers
