I'm creating a logo for a buddy that has a live sound business. The name is TNT sound. I wanted to have a stick of dynamite with the visable end a speaker and the other end would have the wick come around and above the stick as an underline for the TNT title.

I'm new to Vector, so does anyone know where I could find any of these two compopnents (speaker, stick of dynomite) or tutorials on how to create them?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

:)

well, if you're looking for the components, many clip art packages would probably have both sticks of dynamite and speakers/microphones. You might struggle to find some that are at the same angle and drawn in the same style though.

if you know how to use illustrator a bit (even though you're new) you could draw it yourself. You just need to think about the different shapes involved... try sketching out on paper first to get an idea of what would need to go where.
otherwise, i don't know of any specific tutes.

Thanks, I think I will just try to sketch a real nice copy and scan it in, then trace the lines with the pen tool.

i would google or yahoo image search for those things. then once you find the images you want, copy and paste them into illustrator. then just trace over them.

Yeah, I tried to search for them and came up with some pretty nice finds. However, the challenge is properly creating gradients and making a bitmap image using the vector method. I know it won't be the exact same, but I want it to be close.

Thanks again for all your guys' help! :)

One thing on logos is I try not to do what would seem obvious or at least not use it in a obvious way. Logos tend to have more impact when there is a lil more thought into it. Just my .02

I think the word I was looking for is "cliche'", when they are cliche they can at times seem real cheezy..

i agree with ddd. logos that are just a literal interpretation of the name and not a reflection of the company itself tend to be flat and cliche. they don't really "say" anything about the company they're just cheezy little icons.

that said, i do dig your concept ace. don't give it up. it could be real nice

Ace how you doing with that logo? I ask because I was bored at lunch and drew up a logo I thought was pretty cool for the subject matter. Give me a PM if you would like to see it. If not I'll just leave it as a sketch and wont bother with draggin it thru illustrator.
