Hey everyone. Can you please critique my revamped company site. It is nearing completion and I have only to add a few things to it, but they don't really affect the basis of the site. Please, if there is anything wrong with it or anything that can be added to better it, post your comments =]

i like the layout of the site, however a preloader would be a good addition to the site.

i would also beware of using too many colours in your interface which are similar, but not the same (the blue colours)

maybe you could blur your backgrounds?

Overall it's good, but ...

1. transitions go way too slow and become plain after some time.
2. Those abstract bg's look awful at times. Maybe a photo would be more suitable.
3. Make more use of the space you got, you use a pretty big swf but alot of space remains unused. This gives an empty feel to your site.

No doubt that you've got skill, but the site needs to be more tight. It's a tad slow and needs to be more vivid.

add a preloader. also, i don't like the complexity. the pages look like windows, in windows in windows (if you get what i mean)

It works but the over-all feel is a bit too techy for my taste...looks like it will work for what you are trying to do!

Too dark - the colors do not really match - I get the feeling that I am looking at two different sites - the top nav and the bottom area look like they came from two different sites & were pasted together

You need more unifying concepts / themes - the sub nav on the left does not fit with the top, etc.

I agree with everything everybody above me said, and I have three critiques:

1. Have an intro, because the coolest part of any flash website it seeing it unfold, but don't make it to long.
2. Turn off all sounds. I hate sounds on websites, and I hate music on websites. (unless it's a band website, then I want to hear music, but that is the only exception.) Thats just my opinion.
3. Have you logo/name more prominient, because at first glance, I have no idea who's website this is. Maby you could put it big in the center when the page loads up.

take a break from Starcraft and read a design book, overall its not bad, the comments above are right on.

get a better logo, its just a silloughette of a Blizzard game sprite of the "hydra" ground unit for Starcraft, hence your screen name Zerga and the company name hydric-media. the logo is too complicated and small to discern what it is, drawn a caricature of one by hand and play with it.

p.s. zealot vs hydra no comp. lol havn't played that game in ages.

I like the feel of the site, but the logo is black on grey. Your background is very dark as well, so I suggest making your logo white or some such light color, and set it apart from the rest of the page. It looks too melded in with the rest of the content.

The navigation bars are really nice, but the bar at the bottom needs to be a little desaturated. The blue is really jump-at-you shade of blue, so you might want to look into that. And ah let's see, what else?

You might want to stick in a splash page or a preloader, the grey screen looks really bad, and I imagine 56k users might not appreciate staring at a blank screen longer than 3 seconds (Thank god for cable I say..).

Try to apply the same rollover effect that you have on the navigation on the buttons in the bottom left hand corner. And for that blueish gradient that tweens up, I suggest fade that in instead, or have it be brought up by the button itself, so it seems 'attached' in a way.

Background seems to be missing something, I'm thinking this whole layout would look better light. That's just me. Good luck :)

I'll be contradicting vexir when I say this, but I couldnt shake off the 'hollow' feeling of the site. Its nice though, but I didnt really feel the site's character, if you know what I mean. Im not really a fan of the backgrounds, and I'd like to see an intro animation, but overall its pretty good. good work.

overall for me it was to cluttered, nothing seemed to go together, the blue (menu) didnt seem to belong on that site. I too felt i was looking at 2 different sites. the fonts you have used seem too in your face maybe not a white color for the text... just a suggestion. and the background seems too be a little edgy for me. a softer version would maybe work better.

i am on 56k still at home (sigh) it did take a while to load, and some others wont bother waiting for it to load... something to think about.
