CD Label Help

hey, can anyone tell me how to make a swirl design to put on my cd label?...I have photoshop and fireworks...don't know which and how to use...

i'd use photoshop and make a big circle, then rasterize it, then go to filter>something>twirl and adjust the settings to make it how you want.

use PS.... measure the size of the lable you want to make and make a doc with the needed dimensions. Then (just for a test -- you'll have to mess with this part depending on the effect you want) make a few THICK lines out from the center to the edge of the img.... then apply filter motion blur, radial with a large pixel depth..... this should give you a good idea of how to adjust your canvas to get the right effect. oh... don't forget you can keep applying the filter over and over to get a more dramatic effect.

filters are fun, but don't use them to often

I agree.... people claim PS talent when they are simply filter whores. In this case though... nothing complex: a good use of a filter here... if it were a prof job I doubt we'd be talking about it. Use 'em alot [filters] if they are useful for getting your job done, but dont hope to creatr anything ground breaking with them. Good luck and please post your CD cover, I'd like to see it --- should be cool.
