setting up a whois search in flash mx

Hi!
Does anyone know how to set up a whois search within flash?
I am not to familiar with actionscript. I have the .php file which performs the actual lookup, but i am not sure as to how i am going to connect to it from flash.
I have set up a input field and a combo-box with the .com,.net and so on values. But that's how far i get....
Any help is appreciated!

I will take a look at the site as soon as possible. Stupid job, it has not yet updatet the browser to support flash 6.
