Hehe, good stuff. A few things I saw...
The jump I think is too fast, slow it down a bit, or ease it someway.
And the crouching, I don't really like how slow it takes to get back up. If some enemy was right behind me I'd be doomed. The speed looking down is fine, just speed up the transition for down back to normal.

That's a lot better. One more problem, your game is about a reindeer collecting fish in the rain. ;)

LoL, the game idea is under development. If you have ideas for it, post them all ideas will be taken into account :thumb:
Background:
This game is an add-on to a series of platform games, Randolf the reindeer. The previous versions were set up as a .exe and it has been decided to make it for flash also, sort of giving people an idea of the game.
In the first version Randolf saved christmas from evil, and now this one is most likely going to be winter(unless we get a better idea).
The next version is currently under consruction which is summer.

The gravitation is a bit akward for me.... Other than that this is looking good.
I like how the raindrops dissapear when they hit you :)
It slows down sometimes for me on gigh quality, but is fine on low.

I got one question how did you make it scroll without making it tile based or is it tile based?
TheCanadian
July 25th, 2005, 01:47 AM
Game:
You have to hold down the spacebar to jump to the maximum height. Maybe it was just built this way to give the user more control over jumping but I believe that each jump should be constant.
Website (I don't know if this is your website, so if it's not, then ignore this):
The snowflake images on your website don't load so there is just a bunch of falling red x's. Also when I mouse over links, the falling x's lag a bit. Maybe it's just my computer.

Here is a very basic version of the engine i am using, and no it is not tile based. It is very much image based.

Hey! Nice Game. I'm curious on how you made him walk up slopes?
nathan99
July 25th, 2005, 05:41 PM
using a very poor code. i jus checked that if he was moving, and touching the hill, he would move up 4. Not very elegant, but it does the trick

Sometimes when I crouch I will fall through the floors. And the movement on the ramps is very bumpy.

Wow, this is coming along great, the codes seems ALOT more stable.
I was thinking, maybe you can make it like a "sink or swim" type game. I gather the game is for a younger audience, so no "enemies" would probably make it more friendly.
"sink and swim" is side scrolling plaformer, but the water below is always rising, and if you touch it, you die. Along the way, you have to collect things to be able to open a door that is up the top of the level to escape. Simple concept, yet hard to master when the water starts rising fast in the higher difficulties.
Instead of water, you could have snow. :D

yeah, umm i dont know what the whole go is in regards to enmies, although, i have a prototype where an enemy walks L2R and vise versa.
and you can throw a snowball at him, jump on him or kick him
