Hey guys for some random reason, when I do Windows + L instead of switching user and going to the Welcome Screen, my XP Home locks the computer.. with the standard message "The computer is in use and is locked, administrator must unlock" blabla, this creates a problem. I can't login to the other accounts! :P

Anyone know how to get my welcome screen back? I miss it :crying:

Oh, go to User Accounts and "Change the Way Users log on or Off" and then check "Use the Welcome Screen"

Both the checkmarks on that screen are already checked :) They always have been.

It's not the NT login I'm getting, my computer is LOCKING...

check to see if "fast user switching" is enabled

Well, windows + L is the shortcut key for lock, I think to remove that problem you have to have no admin password, not recommended!

Like it's statted before.

Make sure you remove Welcome screen and fast user switching.
Thusly XP will allow u to see the line to put ur name in!

The problem will be that it doesn't matter one bit!
CTRL+L shortcut will do that at any of these choices... Just disable it!

Get something for tweaking XP you can try and going to www.majorgeek.com and try to get some app that allows you to tweak the innermost gizzards of xp, find shortcuts and disable them...

OR...

Google for it!

WinKey+L was never for user switching, never will be. I think there was another shortcut key to switch, can't remember what it was.

Ah, here we go:
Winkey + Pause = display the Systems Properties page
Winkey + R = display the Run dialog box
Winkey + M = minimize all windows
Winkey + D = minimize all windows. Press again and desktop apps reappear.
Winkey + Shift + M = undo minimize all windows
Winkey + F1 = starts Windows Help
Winkey + E = start Explorer
Winkey + F = start Find
Winkey + F + CNTL = start Find Computer
Winkey + B = Sets focus on the task bar
Winkey + TAB = cycle through taskbar buttons
Winkey + BREAK = display Systems Properties panel
Winkey + L = lock Desktop

Sigh, guys, Windows L is the key that does fast user switching, on Home and Pro. I use it so much that I know I'm not wrong alright, suddenly it just decided to change the shortcut to locking windows, I have no idea why.

And I told you also, both the checkboxes are checked!! (fast user switching and enabled welcome screen)

Well, learn linux and switch to it, it'll save you a lot of strife.

Windows + L locks the computer for me. I use it all the time.

Are you using the windows classic theme? I think that has something to do with it...if you are, try switching to the default windows theme (just for testing) and try it again.

It has something to do with whether you use the pretty, blue, windows "welcome screen" or if you use the plain-jane windows login screen (like from windows 2000).

edit: maybe not...

I lock my computer with WinKey+L all the time too, and it's never ever popped up fast user switching for me.
