2 Logos Needed [Archive]

Hi,

We are in need of 2 logo's. One is for a broadband venture we are about to start (Moov2 Broadband) and the other will be providing VoIP services (Moov2 VoIP). I don't have time to do them atm, but need them done soon.

Ideally I'd like to be able to have the logo's done by this Friday, but asap is key (I'd be fine with waiting an extra week to get better results).

We are looking to pay $20 (usd) per chosen logo. So once any/all logos have been sent to us, whichever we decide to use will be the artist that gets paid. Also, we are constantly looking for freelance graphic designers so it will probably land you a fair few more graphical projects.

One request is that you create the graphic for print methods. 2000ppi is good.

Payment will be done through PayPal.

ive known graphic designers to be able to do something logowise in about an hour so it's potentially $20 for an hours work.

And there will be higher paid jobs available in the future to any graphic designers that we like their style.

well our general Moov2 branding is on moov2.com but as long as it stays professional, technical and crisp/clean, that's the look we want.

Well, here they are. :) They are all vector images done in inkscape so you can easily resize them to any size without loss. I can make any other changes you like if you tell me. Also I can switch the text from broadband to voIP and visa-versa on some if you like. ;)

After looking through this thread I feel I have to wish Lacuna good luck getting a quality logo for $20. The current oferings aren't very good imo. If you upped the prize money to, say, £100 - £200 per logo I'm sure you'd get better responses. I know I'd have a stab at it then.

Oh well, I decided to make some anyway. Despite the £11.50 prize money. These were quite fun to do and they're pretty simple in concept. I'm up for making any changes you'd like to see as well so just ask. I even got cheeky and came up with some slogans. :P

Aww, thanks man. Don't worry. It just takes some practice and a bit of luck. Once you get into the mindset it becomes easier to create a concept.

seawise: No he hasn't gotten back to me yet, he continues to ignore me on AIM. Thanks for your concern, but as the issue of payment for work done is not within the jurisdiction of KirupaForum I don't think they have reason to ban him. All I have to say is that I hope his future business endeavours fail and rot at the bottom of his broken-down toilet for swindling a 15 year old. I've learnt my lesson and I've really lost trust for people over the net. Everything now will be watermarked so heavily that you can't get 50 pixels of it without my consent. Oh well, thats the way the world turns eh? :\

Does anyone know if I write up a formal contract and send it to a client to print out and sign, then mail back to me, will it be official? And can I pursue legal action if the terms of that document are broken? Does notary (sp?) action have to be taken on the document before it is official? I'm unsure.

Back on topic, PaddyDuke: I forgot to mention, you shouldn't leave the color of the MOO black because that separates the words into MOO and V2... I doubt Moov2 wants any affiliation with cows :) Just my :2c:

I'm doing some concepts on paper first, I'll turn them into vector when I 'conceptualize' one that I like. I should have a couple in tomorrow if I work a good hour or two on these tonight, but if I don't finish them today I'll stay up late because tomorrow is a busy day, I have to decorate the house for my sister's birthday party. (Cchhhshhhh, little kid parties, go to hell I say! :P)

Vexir// Contract issue: I did a design for a firm and their manager asked me to send the contract with e-mail..He told me that i should take the print out and sign it and turn the paper back to them with cargo..But i am not sure really :)

Update on the logos: Finished 8 concept designs (except the font, I can't draw block letters for BEANS :P) Going to vectorize them now and see how they look in B&W, then colorize them. I hope I can get this done tonight :(

I'm not really going for extravagant this time, I'm just going for simple and professional looking. I'll see how they turn out, I'm still new to logos and identity :)

Edit: Wow, Illustrator is lacking some basic font functionality: previews while arrow-keying through fonts in the drop down :P Fortunately Photoshop does this, so I'll be using that to choose my fonts :thumb:

Urgh, after an hour's toiling of conceptualization and going through some pretty dumb ideas, AND trying to figure out how Illustrator works in the process, I came up with this pretty simple logo, but I think its nice :) I really couldn't find a good font for the BroadBand/VoIP out of my 2000 fonts but I was desperate to finish this so I could get started on some more. Mabye I will leave the rest of my ideas for tomorrow :) Anyway, here, take a look and critique :) And PLEASE SUGGEST some fonts for the Broadband/VoIP! Thanks :thumb:

P.S. I didn't heavily watermark it because I trust Lacuna :)

Edit: Post updated, I found the font I wanted for the broadband text piece. I'll post more logos tomorrow! :beam:

That was on purpose :beam: When they're scaled down they won't look nearly as chunky.

Seawise, did you have Zbrush in your mind when you made that? Just curious. They look oddly familiar. Though I don't think they (meaning Zbrush) are the only ones that use a leaping guy/z as a logo.

Then I realized that z brush as well as other companies have used that general 2/z/guy leaping forward for a logo. Can't think of any other examples though.

As for contracts, I don't use them personally. There are two reasons for this.
1. I don't ever deal with large amounts of money cos I'm no pro. All my projects are for free or small sums.

2. As I'm under 18 (only for one more month! :D) I can't legally be bound into a contract in the UK or the US. So there's really no use.

When I'm 18 and I start doing bigger projects I will try and get a lawyer friend of my dad's to draught me a standard contract for my clients to sign.

I am going to work with the other mods to see if there is anythign we can do to curb this stuff...Including banning people who do such things. Also you must understand that you guys make this possible by participating. This place is fast becoming the "armpit" of these forums. But in order to stop this from happening we need to discourage this stuff from happening by not even taking part if it sounds fishy.

Hi,

Firstly, I would like to apologize to everyone who has been waiting. It has gotten very very hectic here what with very strict deadlines for projects closing in, and what was the focus point of earlier (the logos) slowly slipped lower in priority as clients always take priority over personal company deadlines.

I would like to thank everyone who has added their logos to this thread (sorry again I've not been able to give you a decision as the directors have been extremly tied up), and that there are a few of you I will be contacting about future design work. Which WILL be on priority and guarenteed paid work unlike this situation (which again I apologise!).

I wish I could give you a date on the acceptance for the logo, however projects need to get sorted before we can go back to attending the logo situation.

I did not think this was going to happen so I'm sorry for the people I've bothered by not being able to answer at this time and hope this doesnt discourage people from using this section of the forum or for doing work for us specifically in the future. If you're in business yourself, I'm sure you'll appreciate my position and that this does happen sometimes.

It's only been a week! I really don't think any of you who are getting angry can really be running your own business because you'd understand how hectic things can get and a week does not necessarily sort things out.

I apologized that I asked people to create logos and then found that there will not be time to choose one...yet.

I thought I also made it clear that there was no set date for deciding and I do wish I hadnt requested the logos yet because unfortunately the logos are the least of our priorities for at LEAST the next two weeks.

I don't think this gives the forum section a bad name because in this situation there's nothing I can do as its completely unexpected. And, I've also not just ignored this post, but tried to let you know why I was not able to give you a decision yet.

Ok, so in all, I am sorry that I requested the logos now because AT THIS POINT the logos are insignificant to our current responsibilities and we will have to clear our present work up before we can focus on the other things like the logo design.

You want to know another thing that gives this job forum a bad name? All the b!tchin and complaining in the thread. If you have a problem take it to a PM, or email the person. Prospective clients read through threads and see how the developers are pushy, complaining and otherwise un-professional and will likely go elsewhere. So keep it civil, and I agree with Lacuna you guys cant possibly manage a business with the way you are acting. Things happen, and she has been nice enough to offer up an explanation. Believe me actual clients are no different. So chill guys.

Lacuna, you sure are a piece of work. First you beg for money to buy a t-shirt (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203069) then you make promises you can't keep. I'll never understand people like you.

DDD why are you defending her? It's $20 for christ sake! She should have the decency to pick a logo and fork over the cash.

I know.. I agree with you Nikaosky.

I know, maybe all the logos sucked (mine included :)) But at least tell us that.

I hadnt requested the logos yet because unfortunately the logos are the least of our priorities for at LEAST the next two weeks.

Did you mean to put "2 years"?

Sorry DDD and other mods.. But I also think this is rediculous. I would be just happy with the situation if she just admitted she didn't want any of them.

Then begging for money for a t-shirt.. I won't even get into that...
