the horizontal black space kills all your movement

Nice job, I agree with cameron_ the horicontal black space does kill your movement, try slanting it.

The man seems to be displeased.

Nicely done. I'll chime in on changing/removing the black space. It would cause problems anyway, but it really clashes with the dark grey shape. Great style though, very minimalist.

I concur with the aforementioned comments :D

But really, it is very nice :)

I've never done a vector piece before, do you guys use the pentool and stuff to make that guy or do you draw him out, outline him with the pen tool, and then get rid of the hand stuff?

Pen Tool, by all means. In Illustrator, it's very helpful and easy to use.

From scratch in illustrator eh, cool.

From scratch in illustrator eh, cool.
Not always. You can put your thoughts on a sheet of paper (hand drawing), scan it, and then, trace with the Pen Tool in I-trator. Much easier way.

very nice but like said before the darker colors kind of kill the atmosphere in my opinion.

thanks to all for the c & c.
@ Vexir: I used a photo as a base for the man. me drawing something like that from scratch is not a good idea.

i'll work on the background and i'll try to lighten it all up a bit.

i can't see the outline on his face anymore... the colours (other than the white) are cool though.

i can't see the outline on his face anymore...
Is that a bad thing?
Did that on purpose.... thought it looked funky like this.... the shadow reveiling the true profile of his nose.

I think you should change to backdrop back to the original colour.

Thijs

i'll try to make some more detail in the guy.

Actually I think the last one there is pretty slick. Any chance of a wallpaper (or an .ai file?)

I second that!!! Nice, and that wasn't so bad with the shadow showing true features idea either. I guess just misplace, perhaps. I like it. But, I dunno.
