I've been thinking about a new idea for my site. Basically, I want to have a flash side menu and a flash header, but an html page for the content part (so that I can do links and stuff that actually get registered by spiders). But I want to have the sidebar and the header connected, so that I can do an effect (much like my blue footer) that is continuous in their intersection.

So.. I'm thinking about doing a giant flash thing that's 780 wide and 500 tall, and putting a big floating text box for the content in front of it at a margin of 200 or so. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

..it seeems like a good idea, but I could bog down your site, because your using different layers.

but i like the idea of it. even though you obviously dislike canada. :P

oh, I'm talking about my personal site... I think the next evolutionary step would be to have a sidebar and a top bar with that animation I have on my footer... But I want to have them connected... so that a blob can travel from the side bar to the top bar....

i think that would work good. as long as you had some sort of loading or size compression with the huge flash.

doing that would be really good for the search engines like you said, very important.
