Should I install .Net?

So that's the big question. There's this one CPU control program I want to use but it requires .Net, and that'll be the only thing using it. So far, I can't find any other program that does the same thing. My spec:
1.8Ghz Centrino
512DDR
40GB HD

If I do install it, does it slow down my computer when I'm not using it?

No - it's similar to the VB6 Runtime DLLs we had to download back in the day. It doesn't run in the background all the time.

Are you trying to overclock your CPU? :P

Actually, underclock it. I can do word processing at 600Mhz, not 1800Mhz. Saves battery.
